People need to watch this video of the 1992 US Olympic basketball team

There has never been a team like the Dream Team, in the history of team sports. It's the greatest assemblage of talent on one team in history. It comes off as bad form to try and knock those guys down for the sake of propping others up. They were the first, and they did so after decades of Americans having to hear about how we just weren't that good at sports compared to the rest of the world. This was always steered toward our younger athletes, as if children and young adults from America were inferior to the rest of the world, as they continually had to play against professionals from other nations that had been together for years. Once the field was level, the Dream Team destroyed everyone.

The greatest game ever played in basketball was probably an intrasquad game. Jordan mentioned it in Last Dance, iirc.

Is this being put out there as propaganda to defend the current team? It's not going to work. Yes, international bball has gotten better. The current team still has a mountain of talent compared to other teams, though. Seems like such a simple state of affairs to acknowledge. It's fair that people ask questions when Team USA is down 17 to Serbia. It's also fair to give them some praise for not folding and coming back to win. Both are reasonable.

Barkley's statement about the Dream Team's depth being their big advantage was so asinine. Croatia was the only team that wasn't one good player with some bums. Many weren't even that good. Crediting the depth was like of the Chiefs beating Catholic High in a football game and crediting the coaching.
