Rett Johnson would be a great fit for our roster. You already have some good power on the roster (Bide, Serna, Braun will emerge into one). Having a good OBP guy that hit .390 for an ACC team would be an awesome add. Maybe the coaching change will help us.

Could be a sign that he gets stronger as the season progresses?

I think that’s obvious. Weather warming up just happens to coincide. Prefer someone playing their best ball after tax day anyways.
I wonder what his pitch mix is like. He is close to averaging a K/IP and I love his BB rate. Seems like a nice high floor guy to add to the staff.

One more portal wishlist if he happens to enter:
Isaiah Magdaleno
Hawaii- Junior
95.1 IP
2.36 ERA
116 K
31 BB
.171 B/AVG
quote:

This is going to hurt him if he gets drafted by team with a High A club in the Midwest League.

Maybe in the winter this offseason he can rent a house in the midwest and get climatized

Steven Milam- Warm Weather Stats

Posted by TigerMoose on 5/22/26 at 11:32 am
I went down a rabbit hole and totaled Milam's career stats for the months of May and June. Hopefully whoever drafts him has minor league teams in warm weather states.

Career Stats:
54 Games
.354 AVG
.466 OBP
11 HR
50 RBI
42 Runs
38 BBs

Breakdown by Season:

2024:
20 Games
.395 AVG
.477 OBP
5 HR
15 RBI
18 Runs

2025:
22 Games
.312 AVG
.448 OBP
2 HR
17 RBI
15 Runs

2026:
12 Games
.357 AVG
.481 OBP
4 HR
18 RBI
9 Runs

TLDR: Milam would be an All American if the season started in May.

Todd Whiting just got let go at Houston if anyone wants to start portal shopping.

He is a draft risk but Tre Broussard would be an awesome get.

I was expecting this thread to be about homeruns.

Then I saw this:

Still some fun moments this year like arrambide’s 4 homer game and Jake brown’s tear that ended too early

Checks out
A couple more wishlist portal guys should they enter:

Brayden Martin
Utility/OF- Junior Maryland
.348/.477/.449
19-22 SB
47 BB
18 K

*Checkout that BB/K ratio. That is elite regardless of conference. Last year he hit .319 and had 59 BB to 24 K. Really nice floor.

Pipe dream because he is a top 100 guy for the draft but Evan Dempsey. He is a two way guy from Florida Gulf Coast.
quote:

10.1 IP 8 H 15 BB 5 HBP 5 WP 5 K 1.74 ERA

This is one of the more insane stat lines that I have ever seen. The guys coming in after him to put out his fires must be electric. Also, this is a great example of why ERA is an overrated stat.
A couple potential transfer targets if they choose to enter the portal:

Hunter Ray
OF- Sophomore at FDU
.373/.481/.845
26 HR 71 RBI
22-25 SB
35 BB
49 K

Michael Malki
SP- Sophomore at Cal Baptist
62.1 IP
2.60 ERA
.213 B/AVG
93 K
28 BB

What I meant when I said that is that his attitude doesn’t seem like someone who is completely bought in to what Jay wants to do. The other transfers I think are they’re just not producing.

He gave me the same impression as well. Just by going off his interview, body language, etc. Just a bad take. Not sure he does anything well and is a tweener. I don’t understand what scouts saw in him to make him a top prospect out of high school.

Saw you were the last post and just knew it would be about home runs!

It’s Cowan. Didn’t see that coming

Some of us did. But agreed probably 2-3 innings at most

I took that as a late-inning reliever rather than a starter.

Might be right! I hope he starts Cowan and pieces the rest of the game together personally.

Cowan threw 73 oitches on Tuesday. He might get the start, but I would not expect it. If he does, unless he gets quick outs, he won't be in for 3 innings.

Depends on how efficient he is. I think 3 IP is best case scenario. But I could see Jay wanting to get off to a good start and Cowan is the safest option for me. Jay mentioned Tuesday postgame that he would be available Saturday if needed I believe. So he is definitely available today.

Hopefully Cowan gets the start and gives you 3 solid innings.
I think Bronzini is at Little Rock this year oddly enough.
Start- Cowan

I would really like to see them put Williams in with runners on base and see how he responds. He seems to pitch better when he starts an inning rather than coming in with runners on. We need him to be able to put out fires.

Other than that I would like to see more out of guys like Paz, Ricken, Garcia, Zion, Fontenot.

re: Dardar at 2nd

Posted by TigerMoose on 2/21/26 at 8:26 am to
I think it should be clear that Dardar has separated from the pack and is your 2B moving forward. The real battle is DH (when Arrambide is catching) and the 4th OF spot.
One of my bold predictions is Jake Brown skyrocketing into a 1st round draft pick. He has a lot of tools. Just needs to prove that he can hit left on left off speed.

Arkansas will be a factor again in the SEC. They have one of the easiest schedules. They avoided LSU, Texas, Tennessee, Vandy, A&M.

Wade was a good coach at LSU, no question, but this board overrates him and pines for him in a ridiculous way. He accomplished nothing in the tournament. Nothing.

Let’s see… his 2nd year, he wasn’t allowed to coach in the tourney and the team was so good, they made the sweet 16 without him. Then the next season, the tourney was cancelled because of COVID. Then Wade’s 4th season (what should have been his 3rd tourney), they made the round of 32. His last season, we were a 6 seed and he was fired before the tourney. So he had one legit tourney that he was allowed to coach his team in. Strange hill to die. Wade had LSU in the dance every year. That’s miles better than what any coach has accomplished here since Dale. I would say that he is pretty damn good.
