Would this 100k not be directly reduced from his payout funds from LSU? My assumption was that the reason the contract is so small is because it would impact the buyout amounts he was already receiving from LSU. So he is working for "free" while getting a car and continuing to get massive buyout payments from LSU. If he planned to jump back into another HC role, he'd probably need to begin refamiliarizing himself after a 6 year Destin hiatus also.

As long as Coach O does what Lane is thinking; staying focused on what he's hired to do, not being any sort of side show, he will do awesome. Coach mean DL guys, motivate, recruite......... that's his wheel house. I like the move Lane made here.

Is his 17 mil paid off? Or is this subtracted from that?

The final check was sent to him in December. The man has good timing.

For the time and work a coach has to put in you could say so.

Especially compared to several million a year.

He's been getting a 1099 from LSU for over a decade, and that will continue. Lol

Exactly if you think some small school wouldn’t pony up way more than that for coach O you’re mistaken
It's you who are mistaken.

Coach O went on a tour doing podcasts, interviews, etc to get his foot in the door anywhere as a head coach. Nobody called.

He's now on a prove it year with LSU.

It’s literally 1% of his previous salary. Would you do that?

It's actually 100K through January 2027, so 100K for 9 months plus a company car. Yeah, I'd do that

Contract is till end of year so it’s almost $200k per year and since we just finished a $17 million buyout in December he should be fine.
If he is committed and can stay focused he will get a new contract in January.

Are we counting his expenses on hookers & blow? Because if we are, I’m saying he’s going to need a second job

Working for free "basically". Working for $100,00/yr. The difference between "basically" working and working is $100,000/yr

I don’t get the one year deal. What happens after one year does he leave or does he get an extension?

It’s not a full one year deal, contract runs to end of this year, so basically 7 months. So it’s $100k for 7 months or a little more than $170k per year. More salary coming in Jan 27 if he delivers value and is focused on football.

Good bargain for LSU but the $17 million buyout was not.
