My father fell for a telephone scam

He got a call from a bank pretending to be chase and they claimed he was overcharged for buying a Walgreens gift card. Before he could respond, they were able to hack into his Walgreens account and spent $500 dollars.
It doesn’t help he’s old and has memory lapses either. We traced the phone number back to a warehouse in Miami and the police said there’s nothing they can do at the moment.

It’s considered by many to be a borderline failed state, and it’s the poorest country in the western hemisphere. It also hasn’t had an acting president since the assassination of Jovenal Moïse in 2021. Commercial flights from the US into the capital, Port-au-Prince, have also been suspended since 2024 because most of the city is essentially controlled by gangs.
The US has seen an influx of migrants from Haiti since 2020. Why not send troops to Port-au-Prince to clean things up?

Yeah, there’s a real disconnect between leadership and the demand of ensuring the parks are clean, safe and fun to visit. The parks should be historical but also non political at the same time. There’s also the issue of states don’t want it kicked back to them either.
I appreciate Trump at least trying to clean up DC but it’s a stalemate between old heads who were hired out of high school.

Within the department of interior - they have laid off most park archivists, archeologists and librarians handling preservation efforts.
To save face, they are now hiring student volunteers to mind the gap they created.
It’s a shame that nobody gives a damn about our parks.
Places like Gettysburg and Yellowstone are America’s jewels and we treat them like an armpit.
