Anyone else remember when we couldn’t have a playoff because schools were concerned about player safety?

Hell just go ahead and make the whole season a playoff. Two losses and you’re out.

Whole season playoff with single elimination.

Well, the reality has been for 100 years that college football has been a sport where 2 losses and you out. And if you were a fan or alum of any team outside the usual top 15 or so one loss and you were eliminated. That’s why the majority of fans embrace a big playoff. It takes away the bias.

Of course a weak coach with a weak team in a weak conference will say he wants more in

Go to 32. Then have another NIT style 32 team tournament so schools like Auburn and the Vols can play too!

Whether it's absurd or not, you shouldn't be editorializing in a news headline.

Teams play two regular season games and then it goes into a 126 team playoff with single elimination. You work all year for the season and it can be over in a few weeks.

I like the 12 number. The problem we have is people pretending the G5 has a reason to have an autobid because of the stupid "5 highest ranked conference champs". If you remove that angle, ND makes it and IMO, I would put Texas in over BYU. Texas would have played Oregon in Eugene, and ND would have come to Oxford. Are yall seriously telling me those aren't extremely more compelling and competitive games? If they ever do raise it, 16 should be the final stop. That would have added Vandy, BYU, USC, and Utah.
