I don’t understand you night owls who want to drive home from work in the dark.

Yep, and it has a bigger effect on people's health and quality of life than most realize.
The summer days are already naturally long. There is no need to make them "longer".
So, for people's health and quality of life, you opt for the option that has the summer days "shorter" and the winter days "shorter"? Make that make sense to me. Going to permanent DST wouldn't make the summer days any "longer" than they already are, it would just make the winter ones "longer" per se.

so is sititng at desk all day making spread sheets or commuting for an hour. Unless we want to do something about the 40 hour work week negative effects on the human body, you can miss me with the circadian rhythm argument

I’ve only been hearing this for the last 10 years

So our clocks will just always be wrong? At no point, in the entire year, will "noon" be at noon. This is genuinely retarded.

Do you think our clocks are wrong right now?

That would be great, but it still has a long way to go.

Seems to be the thing to do and not believe a word he says based on experience over the last few years.
Can you also give me your bets so I can do the opposite?

I don’t even care which one we go to, so long as we pick ONE.
Oh heck no, I gotta have this one or else I’m gonna threaten to move to Europe with all those far left celeb-libs.

Just pick one. There are benefits to both, but for fricks sake, just pick one and stick to it.
Posted on 5/22/26 at 7:37 pm to Major Dutch Schaefer
And then rename it “Trump Time”

Is Trump in the room with you now?

I wish we could do away with the time change. Every Thursday morning at work we listen to the name that tune contest on 94.5 from Regina Saskatchewan. Depending on what time of year, it’s either on at 8:00am or 9:00am.

I’m sick of this topic. I’m convinced nobody actually cares.

I hope it happens but AIPAC will probably nix it for some dumb reason

As opposed to driving to work in the dark?

I support this - I love long summer evenings watching the sunset from my porch. Remarkable especially here in the South. Sunshine is good!

I was surprised in the polling so many wanted to keep it and over 40% wanted to keep standard time
Because nobody knows which one is actually "standard" time and which one is "saving" time. If they just called it "winter" time and "rest-of-the-year" time, then people would know.

It is pretty simple to understand really. There isn't much that I'd be doing in the morning before work that would be greatly enhanced with any bit of sunlight but the opposite is the case in the afternoon/evening after work.
Yes most people still work during the day from about 8 to 4 or 7 to 3 or 9 to 5. The 3-6 hours of daylight after work is awesome. You can do stuff and it's big for kids sports like baseball during the summer. You can have extra playtime for kids, extra practice, and you do some yard work after dinner if you wish. It's more time for kids to play after dinner.
It's great for fishing as well. You can get on the lake for a 2-3 hours of fishing in the summers during the evening.
I do feel bad for the 3rd shifters though. One summer I worked from like 9 pm to 5 am. I had to rush home and hope I fell asleep before it got too bright.
