Make them sign a contract that they have to try out for the US team first. If they qualify, they must compete for the US. If they don’t, they can go compete for their home country.
That makes no sense.
I don’t think the University of Texas cares that Julien Alfred competes for St Lucia and not the USA, just that one of their runners got a gold medal.

You could’ve saved yourself a lot of typing. I understand how swimming works since I swam in the SEC.
Then you should've known all these non basketball Olympic sports are equivalency sports and probably no guy on your team was getting a full ride. Also, my example could have been cal, uva women, pre 2024 texas, occasionally nc state or indiana.

You think your buddy at auburn had to pay training expenses during the off season?
Like most of my college teammates, he went home for the summer. Not even once did i ask what he paid for off season training, but did ask if he had to pay Goeken in Real, since he was training with team Brazil... in Florida.

I like the fact that someone at Texas found her on a tiny island country (238 Sq miles) with less than 200,000 people.

Christ, you’re a condescending twat. Yes, I knew how many scholarships men’s swimming got. That’s why I put in the caveat of partial scholarships because I wasn’t including them. My point in the original reply was that many of these foreign athletes aren’t paying for all of the things the poster I replied to was saying they paid for. That’s it. It’s not the big deal you’re making it into.

You know US is built on Immigration. Literally everyone except Indians are Immigrants

Many athletes competing for other countries are U.S. citizens but have dual citizenship due to a parent or grandparent being born elsewhere,
Cameron Amine is a Michigan wrestler and will compete for San Marino. Stevan Micic also a wolverine is wrestling for Serbia. Roman Bravo-Young is a national champion for Penn State and he is representing Mexico. Sabastian Riveria is a Maryland wrestler and represents Puerto Rico.

Agreed. Anyone who comes to the US and lives and trains here only to leave and compete against the US should have all legal status revoked including citizenship

Just like in Economics, free markets and competition makes everyone better.
But I realize that concept is really lost these days. In areas beyond sports.

He is born citizen and you cannot revoke that. You sound petty. May be we should worry why we are not beating them. Kid mentality
