It seems she has already cut down on turnovers considerably.

She currently leads the league in turnovers per game.

Guess I should have checked the stats. Just shows perception vs reality. But her current rate is reduced by 10% from last season's average.

The WNBA is desperately trying to hype up Queen Cait as the league savior.

I don't find that to be what they are doing. I think it is more like they are trying to push a Clark/Reese rivalry to be like the Magic/Bird rivalry that helped boost the NBA viewership through the roof.

But talent-wise, she blends in with the rest of them. But you'd have to actually watch the games to know that.

Last season, she had the best assist season ever (if memory serves), she was top 10 in points scored, and top 5 in offensive efficiency. I'd say she was better than the average player. I have, admittedly, not watched many games.

quote:

As you said, she could get better and become the superstar she's being hyped up to be. But right now - talent-wise - she isn't.

Performance in a small sample size may not be indicative of performance. I think someone would need to define superstar and whether relative talent or at least relative performance is part of the equation. She is a superstar in terms of recognition. A lot more non-WNBA fans can identify Caitlin Clark vs Aja Wilson. The same is true for Angel Reese.

quote:

I'd really like someone to break down her game and tell me where she excels relative to the rest of the league.

Relative to the top players or to the average player who is "just another player". A person can be better than "just another player" and not be a superstar.
She certainly has the most star power, that is undeniable IMO, and you know I'm not a Caitlin Clark fanboy.

Is she just an average player in terms of skill? Again, I would say she is one of the more talented players in the league, maybe not the most, but definitely close, and she will probably get better. It seems she has already cut down on turnovers considerably.

So, anyone who thinks "just another player" is just wrong unless they are saying they don't care at all about the WNBA, so they are all "just another player."

Paul was a decent coach

He was better than that.

but probably stayed 3-4 years too long.

Probably.

He was burned out and done for the most part. It happens to the best of coaches.

I think he also had some physical health issues. I also think a few years off made him want to compete again. Unfortunately for him, he is not starting off that well.

Has this proven to be true?

Dependent on the wind. Forecast has it anywhere from 3.5 to 5.1 out of the SSE or SE foduring the game.

Fever struggling without Clark, they are 4-5 but she is expected to return tomorrow I believe.

They were 2-2 with her and are 2-3 without. :dunno: Not much of a sample size to say they are struggling without her.

She does return tomorrow, though.

I find the WNBA passably entertaining when there is not an LSU game of any sort on.

What it has become is a giant boondoggle.

During the first Gulf War, when they mobilized the reservists, I saw someone tell a reporter something like, "I didn't join the military to go to war, I joined it to pay for college".
Would have been sort of awkward if they sent him out for the media and he wasn't starting  But it is now official, I guess.

re: LSU dugout tomorrow?

Posted by mdomingue on 6/13/25 at 6:33 pm
In the CWS, the home team gets the 3rd base dugout, the visitor gets the 1st base dugout. I think LSU is the visitor, so they should be in the 1st base dugout.

Two things about this post:

1. I agree with you about the umpcast

2. Every time a statement is prefaced with "I'm not" it is invariably followed by whatever they are claiming to not.

Probably less than half of what I have

The govt should have never gotten into the loan business to start with. Everything the govt touches eventually goes to shite.

This started with the GI Bill. Direct student loans started in the 50s but then became government-backed and often subsidized student loans through private banks in 1965. The subsidies were related to the difference in interest rates.

Pretty much still the same thing, subsidized and unsubsidized student loans as well as subsidized and unsubsidized parent plus loans. Just a lot more students get them now, and a lot more have little or no intention of ever paying them off.

do they not require them to physically show up and present a valid ID?

For online curricula? Why would they?

But I agree with this.

I hope he hits the go-ahead run in the CWS final game as LSU is en route to an epic blowout lol:

I don't need the stress of needing Stanfield to walk off a win

I think he meant it rarely blows in a way that pushes balls out of the park, typically referred to as blowing out. So it rarely bows out in that park.
