Lane has already shown Frank Wilson’s value was outdated

Thought it was ridiculous some of the people on this board along with the local media was so adamant that Lane had to keep him on staff.
No RB we’ve had the past 4 seasons have developed at all (if they haven’t been arrested). And with today’s game being so transactional, I don’t really know what Frank really brings to the table anymore.
We were able to sign Brown and Anderson within a week of the new regime coming in and already have commits from Hudson and Calais for 27’. So much for the runts in North MS saying they were about to raid our state for all the HS talent.

Frank 10 years ago was really valuable. In today’s college sports world, he’s not

Running backs aren’t developed any longer because Lesticles got fired for using his running backs.
Fans nowadays want to see passes on every play and when the pocket breaks down due to coverage, the quarterback runs it.
ETA: Don’t misunderstand…I like old school football (3 yards and a cloud of dust). But I am saying most fans like air raid-style offense. I stand by my original statement.

There is no reason to pretend Frank was not an asset on the recruiting trail; he was.
There was also no value in pretending he was irreplaceable. He was always replaceable.
In some respects, I understand wanting to keep him. But I also see the value in starting fresh on the side of the ball the new head coach specializes in.
Frank was not even close to being an irreplaceable RB coach and seemed to have fallen behind others. Had he been willing to accept a recruiting role, he would still be at LSU.

Half this board wanted Frank as HC after his first press conference

I don't think outdated is the correct word, because it still effective. But, it was definitely made moot or negligible with the current staff.

That Wisconsin RB LSU got is going to be stud. He looked really good on film and I was surprised he wasn't higher in the portal. He apparently was running with 1s a lot.

CEH ran for over 1400 yards in 2019. The most prolific passing attacks in CFB history had a guy run for 1400 yards.
Lane is going to run the ball a lot.

Agree. I know he will be coached up a hell of a lot more under Kevin smith than Frank

Yeah..... that's exactly why he was fired. Are you being sarcastic or just stupid?
Les's problem was using RBs when the 11 players on defense and their coaches knew he was going to use the RB.

False the Lane Train has featured 3 All-American RBs in 5 years at Ole Miss & FAU, none highly ranked but developed in his system or at least evaluated exceptionally by Kiffin & Weis.

Frank was a good coach, but Frank’s problem was himself. He was fool of himself and didn’t adapt, I’m sorry but you don’t sit your best RB because of a single fumble. The game has passed him up

Lane runs the ball as much or more than any other coach in football. Did you all not watch the Ole Miss game last year?

Lane has had no problem having productive RBs at Ole Miss

Frank was washed. He should have been fired before the bowl game

He was good at under the table payment. No longer needed.

Exactly this.
