How can you be a “terrorist group” and openly function in the USA without being arrested?

A few other things…

1976 .. The Islamist weren’t in screwing with the U.S. as they are today, the 1972 summer Olympic Munich Massacre had just taken place but the U.S. Embassy Takeover, the U.S. Marine barracks bombing and TWA 847 hijack was not to far off …… if you had an airline flight, your friends and/or family could walk to the gate to drop you off or pick you up you up.

2026 … 2001 WTC murders etc we all now have the pleasure of TSA. and maybe a full body search.

1976… The Vietnam Nam war protests were still going strong. But the protesters were nothing compared to the antifa and anarchy protests of today. If some lunatics set up an autonomous zone in a city, it would have been removed in a day.

2006 …. Protests are mostly not “peaceful” , but violent towards any other thought opposite theirs.

Religion;

1976 … although most denominations stuck to trying to preach scripture, they usually had different beliefs about secondary issues, not whether God was a woman or if Jesus was gay. Anyone who preached that would be branded a heretic and removed or went away to start a cult

2026 … too much to describe… see “protestia” on twitter
This is my personal observation as I remember as an 17 yr old teen during the Bicentennial , yours may differ. Things have changed.

I had just graduated high school in 1976. A bunch of us drove down to NYC to celebrate the BICENTENNIAL on July 4th. We saw more than 200 ships including 16 tall ships from 30 nations gathered in New York Harbor for a parade that began at the Verrazano Narrows Bridge and moved up the Hudson River past the Statue of Liberty. There were parades and fireworks that were almost as good as what TRUMP made happen in DC. Basically, the majority of the city and Country was glad and proud to celebrate. NYC had crime, but nothing like today. …….

Education System … 1976 vs 2026
1976 … Most of my elementary-years teachers were from the WWII generation, and they stuck to the three R’s. The Founders or the Country were never portrayed negatively; they were rightly heroized, and we kids respected them. We stood for the pledge every morning. If you acted up you went to see the principal and maybe get spanked. If you ever hit, cussed, or punched a teacher, you were kicked out.
2026 … Do I need to tell you the difference?

Politics… 1976 vs 2026
1976 … Republicans and Democrats, Republicans were mostly conservative. I didn’t know of the existence of the “Deep State”. Democrats were mostly moderate and a mix of liberals. But, as best as I remember, none of them hated the country or wanted to destroy it, they just had stupid ideas and always wanted to raise taxes. Communist and Socialist were considered sick .
2026 … Do I need to tell you the difference?

Society Lifestyle and Morals 1976 vs 2026

If someone was gay, they basically kept it to themselves and didn’t celebrate it or walk down the street naked. Dont remember any trans stuff.
The TV show MASH has a character named Corporal Klinger. He wanted out of the Army so bad he constantly dressed up in woman cloths so he could be considered insane.
Men didn’t have their “junk” cut off, take hormones to grow breasts and pretend to be a woman. If they did they would be considered insane. Same goes for a woman doing vice versa.
If a parent tried to do this to their children, they would have probably been jailed.
The U.S. didn’t abort over 1 million babies every year as they do now, but roe v wade had just started.

Immigration 1976 vs 2026 …

Most immigrants were thankful to be here and didn’t tell U.S. citizens that our country sucks or try to take it over. I don’t recall any Muslims taking over cities. The WORLD TRADE CENTER still existed and looked good a night.

2026 … it’s worse than we I can describe.

Law and Order 1976 vs 2026

1976 …If you were guilty of a crime you spent time in jail or prison… murder would mean death penalty or life in prison.
2026 … law is considered evil , if your guilty of a crime, you get a few days in jail, if you murder , it’s no big deal , just do probation and community service. Because basically its the U.S. society’s fault that crimes are committed.

That all I got

This is from a man who was naturalized US citizen at a young age from Canada. He was in the U.S. army during the 60’s

During my U.S. Army service, I met many other expats from Germany, Russia, various Latin American countries, etc. all enthusiastic new residents, excited that following their service they could become American citizens.

I don’t recall hearing individuals from a foreign country living here utter a negative word about his or her newly adopted country, not once.

I’ve only heard that recently, oddly enough from foreign-born members of the U.S. Congress, e.g. Ilhan Omar, from Somali, Pramila Jayapal, who was born in India, etc. These are people who should be heaping praise on America for providing them opportunities they could never have imagined much less experienced in their native countries. Their negative attitudes are as incomprehensible to me as they are repulsive.

Following my father’s death my mother moved us to Tampa, where I was introduced to another community of expatriates, Cubans, who fled Fidel Castro’s communist dictatorship. Despite leaving many of their family members, homes, and fortunes behind, I don’t think I’ve ever met a happier, more welcoming group of people. Families gathering in their yards, eating, singing, and laughing were common as I biked through Tampa neighborhoods. It was rare when I wasn’t called out to join them.

Whenever I was invited into a home by one of my new Cuban pals, no matter what time of day, there was always a pot of something simmering on the stove. I was inevitably asked if I was hungry, and no matter my answer I was given a steaming hot bowl of whatever was in that pot and told “¡Come!” — “Eat”. I did as I was told, explaining to my frustrated mother later that evening that I wasn’t hungry for dinner. To this day I love Spanish bean soup and chicken with yellow rice.
Ichabod Case .. Revolutionary Soldier, battle of Long Island etc
Let them eat cake and sweat, do as I say not as I do. The little people must keep temp at or above 78 degrees and obey

Secular Humanist Phil Donahue . The Phil Donahue show is partially responsible for the existence of soccer moms, Karens, victimization, and the socialism lean of the Dem party and the decline of morals in the U.S.

And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that the Somali flag was not there……
