Who gets the start tonight?

What do you guys think? Here are the guys we have not seen this weekend.
Most likely candidates in no particular order:
Gavin Guidry
Danny Lachenmayer
Zion Theophilus
Santiago Garcia
May have thrown too much on Tuesday:
Zac Cowan
Guys who could, but I'm not sure if Jay trusts them enough:
Jaden Noot
Cooper Williams
Dax Dathe
Reagan Ricken
Ethan Plog
I think Jay is just not going to start these guys, particularly in an SEC game
DJ Primeaux
Connor Benge
Mavrick Rizy
If I had to put money on it, I'd probably go with Guidry.
I also think we could see Fontenot again in relief for an inning or two if needed, since he only threw 44 pitches, though that's unlikely. Not likely to see Sheerin again this quickly after a 58-pitch night last night.

Go enjoy your Sunday man, we'll find out in a few hours

I don’t know who starts, but we might need everyone in that top group to get more than 3 outs. Hopefully at least a couple can get more than 6.

If the wind is still blowing in at ~ 15 mph try B.P. Guidry!!!

I think you got the order right, at least the start and the plan. I believe Guidry gets the start. The next three will be the relievers in no particular order.
Zac will likely rest today.

Hopefully Cowan gets the start and gives you 3 solid innings.

You know some of them - maybe half - will fail quickly. CJJ cannot afford to play matchups if one of these guys is having success. In that case he needs to ride him until the wheels fall off.

Don't know. We'll have to wait until 2pm tonight to find out.

Cowan threw 73 oitches on Tuesday. He might get the start, but I would not expect it. If he does, unless he gets quick outs, he won't be in for 3 innings.

Depends on how efficient he is. I think 3 IP is best case scenario. But I could see Jay wanting to get off to a good start and Cowan is the safest option for me. Jay mentioned Tuesday postgame that he would be available Saturday if needed I believe. So he is definitely available today.

I think Guidry will start, and I think we'll get 5-6 innings between him, Garcia, and Zion.
I think the remaining 3-4 will be all hands on deck as he doesn't really give any of those guys a long leash outside of maybe Rizy.

100% agree. Yesterday forced his hand on that with the double header. But the scores also allowed us to stick with the relievers.
But Guidry, Cowan, Dathe, and Plog all have starting experience in college and have extended in the past. Garcia has extended in relief. So has Lachenmayer.
Now isn’t the time to play matchup. If a guy is finding the zone, ride it out. Most of the infield defense is shoring up, rely on that.

I took that as a late-inning reliever rather than a starter.

If those are the options, today could be a wild ride in the Box. If I were in JJ's shoes, maybe pitch by committee, but I'd start Santiago Garcia, and try to get 3 whole innings out of him and then go Lachenmeyer.
Rizy is pretty close to a give up play at this point in time. His last couple of appearances on the bump have been scary.

I think Jay has been moving toward that anyway, except for a couple of guys he only trusts as matchup guys, but he even let Benge stay in a bit longer than usual recently.
I think he will let guys stay in longer than he has in the past if they are successful, but may have a quick hook when they stumble (even the guys he gives more leeway usually). This is a series we need to sweep to stay in contention for a spot without having to make a deep SEC tournament run or even win it outright.

Might be right! I hope he starts Cowan and pieces the rest of the game together personally.

thirteen names for 27 outs. Your guess is as good as mine. Fans like us will probably need four hours for this one today. Now is the time to shake off the underperformance and deliver: see Paz yesterday
