They aren’t randomly shooting anything that moves, they’re managing populations.
As opposed to the poachers who shoot every elephant and rhino they can find to simply cut off the tusks or the horn, simply because some Chinese dude thinks rhino horn powder makes his dick function.
Some of the same people opposed to this hunting have no issue keeping short trout or reds, because they fry everything with fins that they hook.

Americans pay an obscene amount of money to shoot an animal from a heard that has been specifically chosen as to maximize the viability of the future heard.
Yea ok
You think those people would benefit at all if people like rich Americans didn’t go and spend the money to kill something? Morally speaking VS at least some money going towards locals are two different things. Or, countries like China can just go ahead and wipe out all the wildlife over there that they believe for a second might give some type of sexual awakening.

It's a colonizers fetish to go to Africa and hunt. Just be honest with yourselves. It's obscene.
How is it any different than hunting moose, elk, deer here? It’s just a different species and more dangerous
You can dislike it but it’s a fact many of those species would be extinct if not for the profit motive of conserving them for paid hunts

It doesn’t seem very sporting to hunt lions.
It’s dangerous.

I’ve got no problem with hunting animals for food. But, expending exorbitant sums of money to pick off a lion with a high powered rifle from 300 yards away is unbelievably stupid. If you’d like to be adventurous, take the lion on with a big knife or a spear from 3 feet away.

What the frick?? With many others??? Is life just completely worthless over there?

"I killed a large animal that has no fear of me and doesn't run away/ try to escape because I have huge fng gun and I'm an alpha warrior male!!!!!"
But the resort to self-proclaimed intellectual prowess because someone simply says "obscene" (isn't abortion about economics? But then that draws the opposite side into the same hypocrisy, doesn't it? Oh, dear.) is a bit "low-hanging fruit".

Too bad we can't get hunters to come here and pay lots of money to hunt African predators
The most dangerous game is banned.
Not sure how dangerous it is, though, considering a lack of aim

Like I said in the OP, Africa is not the United States.

That’s not what happens in lion hunting.

Without a financial incentive to protect many of these animals for hunting they would all be dead and eaten by the locals.
But would they really?

Also, if bears in the US killed as many people as lions kill in Africa, bears would be extinct.
Do lions kill that many people?
I’m all for big game big price trophy hunting, but your reasons are wrong. It should be allowed because it provides legit financial incentives to prevent poaching and over harvesting of animals for the Chinese market.

I’ll never understand why someone would want to hunt elephants and big cats.
You don’t understand why anyone would want to kill the largest land animal and some of the largest predators on earth? Really?

I’m so fatigued of framing everything from a “colonizer” vantage. How about it just be about the actual trophy.

From what I have been told by Afrikaners, yes.

It's not like im making some farfetched argument. I'm not comparing rafting trips in Colorado.

is shooting a lion or an elephant supposed to be impressive or an accomplishment of any sort? any idiot can do that.Who gives a shite.
Take on a lion with a knife if you're such a badass. Or better yet A pack of wild african dogs or hyenas, accomplishment that then you got a story to tell. ( by the way, I'll be pulling for the hyenas to eat your stupid arse)

It’s all fun and games until you shoot a lion and find out that he has a first name known internationally. Just look at that dentist that shot Cecil The Lion a few years back. I wonder how pissed he was at his guide when he found out it wasn’t just a random lion.
