A lot to look forward to (Baseball)

While this season albeit not over hasnt lived up to our expectations but seeing these freshman start turning things on with their opportunities has given me hope. Ruckert has improved drastically at second and swings a good bat, Patrick seems solid in right and has a good bat, Serna while he needs to grow behind the plate has been on fire at the plate and will only get better and is strong as an ox, Arrambide continues to crush the baseball as a sophomore ( I also never knew about this stat but Cades daddy was telling me last night that he was watching the UT vs State game and UTs lead off guy was at the plate and a stat came across that said he was 2nd in the SEC at percent chance to hit a homerun at the plate with a 10.6% chance and it came across that Cade was first in the league with a 10.7% chance) his power has really started to come through.. I think if LSU fixes the NIL issue and Jay can get a good freshman class and hit the portal right next year can be a good year. Paz looked great on the mound last night as well.

Our weekend rotation should be set next year with Schmidt, Paz and Evans. May entertain moving Evans back to the pen or perhaps a hybrid role ala Louis Coleman.

Would still prefer getting an elite established starter if possible.

The future looks bright to me.

Wonder if Moore will return?

Don’t forget Mason Braun. Love this kid especially being he is the only one running bases without the oven mitts.

I think I read he said he is

Cooper Moore is also returning.

Milam will be the biggest loss

That may happen, but if it does, one of Evans, Moore and Schmidt will hit the portal. People who just casually say that we should just move Evans back to the portal for his money year as if he will just take that and not leave are out of touch with reality. Moore is in a tougher spot coming off an injury, but also likely won’t stay to take a demotion.
Sheerin wasn’t mentioned here, but the only reason he would likely stay unless his draft position is disappointing would be to start to try and move up.
There are a lot more moving parts to this than “bring in an established starter” when that one move could lose you two of the few dependable pitchers you have on this year’s staff. I’m not saying it won’t happen, but it’s not as simple of a solution as some of you make it out to be.

You made a thread just to say you talked with Cades dad

Curiel will be the biggest loss, too. Those two will be tough to replace. I’d include Brown, but we already had to replace him.

I love the freshmen we have playing

Will it be one or two "biggest losses?"

If you don’t think Jay is going to the portal to try and find a weekend starting pitcher ( or two), you are fooling yourself.

Jay strongly implied he will take a redshirt this year, which suggests he returns with leverage. And 5 for 5 would change the leverage dynamics for all sophomores.

Looking through pitching stats last night, it’s pretty insane how bad this staff is at throwing strikes… so many dudes with Friday night talent that have little league control. Couldn’t believe how many guys averaged more than one free pass per inning.
If we can have some of these guys improve to at least average control, the staff could be elite.
