It makes it less interesting. There’s nothing unique or to take pride in by hosting if you just showcase a bunch of foreigners.
Celine Dion is understandable because maybe no one else could have hit that song like her. Showcasing non-French athletes was bizarre.

The girl still has the Olympic Record in the 400 and the guy has the most gold world championships in Judo all time.
