Got race day fully dialed in. Leaving Lexington at 4:45 AM and rolling into Speedway High School right around 7:45–8:00. Coming in off the Crawfordsville Road exit, so traffic should be smooth enough to slide right into the lot. Indy 500 morning is officially handled.

Who else is making the trip to the Indy 500 tomorrow? Looks like the rain might delay things a bit, but it still feels like we’re going to get the race in.
This will be my 3rd 500 and I swear it never gets old. The whole event is just spectacular — the atmosphere, the speed, the crowd, everything. One of the best live sports experiences you can have.
Who’s going, and where are you sitting?

Recent murders in the Tigerland area of Baton Rouge include the March 2024 fatal shooting of Sirena Franklin, with suspect Angelique Chatman pleading guilty to manslaughter in April 2026. In November 2025, Brian Lavergne received two life sentences for a 2021 double homicide on Earl Gros Avenue that killed LaQuincia Jackson and Fredrick Hollins.Recent and Notable Incidents in Tigerland (4700 Block of Tigerland Ave/Earl Gros Ave):March 11, 2024: Sirena Franklin, 39, was shot in the chest during an apartment fight; Angelique Chatman, 40, later pleaded guilty to manslaughter.August 2025 (Retrial): Brian Lavergne was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the 2021 double homicide of LaQuincia Jackson and Fredrick Hollins.May 2022: A man was killed in a shooting in the parking lot behind a popular Tigerland bar, with a woman also injured.July 23, 2021: Jaques Jones, 27, was shot to death outside his apartment at Sandpiper apartments. With the level of talent Cal had at Kentucky, he should have walked away with more championships. No coach in modern college basketball wasted more elite rosters or got less out of NBA-level players. And the fact that SGA, Reed, and Dillingham spent chunks of their seasons sitting on the bench is flat-out criminal. That wasn’t development — that was mismanagement
