Who’s heading to the Indy 500 tomorrow?

Who else is making the trip to the Indy 500 tomorrow? Looks like the rain might delay things a bit, but it still feels like we’re going to get the race in.
This will be my 3rd 500 and I swear it never gets old. The whole event is just spectacular — the atmosphere, the speed, the crowd, everything. One of the best live sports experiences you can have.
Who’s going, and where are you sitting?
I’ll be in section 9 this time.

My wildcat brother from an LSU tiger man. Have a great time. I am very envious of you have not been since 1985 since Danny Sullivan did the 360 and beat Mario andretti before then. As a young boy I was there in 1969 with Mario andretti won and then my dad brought us 3 years in a row 1977 AJ Ford number 4 1978 Al Unser. I think his third and then 79 when Rick mears won. It is definitely the greatest spectacle in racing and there is nothing like it now. Love NASCAR but nothing like the indy500. I wish I could be there. I'm getting close to retirement and I promise my wife when I retire. We are going up there. So man you have a great time. I think the weather will be able to get the race in. I hope everything's just fantastic for you. It's the greatest experience anyone could have and like I tell everybody he got to at least experience one time. Even if you don't think you like racing, there's nothing like the indy500. Have a great time my brother. Stay safe. Godspeed and enjoy the race. I'll be at work. Trying to keep up with it

Took the fam last year for their first 500 and they had a blast. I’ve been several times over the years and it never disappoints. Sat in Sec 14 last year, 9 will be awesome seats as long as your high enough.
ETA: Have fun!! The Blackhawks on the pace lap were one of the baddest arse things I ever witnessed. Literally right in our lap.

Thanks! I will have a blast. I am taking 3 individuals who never been. One is a huge f1 fan, told him, the 500 is the pinnacle race to experience.

That’s cool, they have no idea what they are in store for. I’d get there as early as you possibly can, as I’m sure you know. We left hotel at 6am and sat in parking lot traffic once we got off of 65 onto Kessler last year. Boys still had enough time to make it to infield and shop at the souvenir trailers and make it back for most of the prerace activities. Mom, not a race fan, was floored by the experience.

Got race day fully dialed in. Leaving Lexington at 4:45 AM and rolling into Speedway High School right around 7:45–8:00. Coming in off the Crawfordsville Road exit, so traffic should be smooth enough to slide right into the lot. Indy 500 morning is officially handled.
Yes, the f1 fan is going to have his mind fricking blown by the spectacle of the track and the pageantry of the event.

Not a big fan of Indy cars and F1. Will watch some NASCAR and always try to watch as much NHRA as I can. But I will always make time for the 500. My cousin was the youngest to ever win the Indy 500.

I've never been to the race, but I have attended time trials. As y'all are saying, it truly is an amazing experience.

Weather is holding and the sun is out. Checking from turn 4!

How far are we from AI driving the cars

Early laps Rossi is flying off turn 4 and into turn 1. Palou is better into turn 3. They’ve swapped back and forth every lap. They’re sling shotting each other

The pace laps with those helicopters honoring the military may be the most awesome opening to an event I have witnessed.

Wrong.
2014 Indy 500 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay with the first crash.
Legge got caught trying to avoid his spinning car.

You got to see a darned good race.
I’m glad IndyCar has been making every effort to finish under green.

Just got home from the race and holy shite… it did not disappoint. What a finish.
Rosenqvist started making his move right in front of our section — you could feel it coming. Dude absolutely deserved that win. Strongest car on track all day, and he drove the hell out of it when it mattered.
Pato ran a great race, but he just didn’t have the speed to match that late push. Still fun watching him fight.
And I’ll be honest… I’m glad a Penske car didn’t take it this year.
Hell of a day. Hell of a race.

I was pulling for Pato, but Rosenqvist was a very deserving winner.
