Let’s Guess Dem Talking Points on Eliminating Daylight Savings Time

I’m guessing racist because black people don’t have the means to purchase watches?
Homophobic because there is an increase of LBGT… farmers and they rely on the Farmer’s Almanac to grow crop. By doing this he is stopping them from going into farming.
What else do we see coming?

I believe the proposal is to stay on Daylight Savings Time. Daylight Wasting Time (Standard Time) would be eliminated.

Currently only two states, HI and AZ, do not shift to DST. If President Trump standardizes on one Time (whether DST or ST), I would bet that many blue states will pass laws to continue with the current format purely out of TDS.

I think there may have been a couple of years of DST during WWI under Wilson but it ended once the war was over.
I remember well when the current system was put in place. We'd haul hay and work the farm until 9PM. Made for long days.
It was even rougher on the dairy farmers.
DST is against Mother Nature.

They're going to bring up what happened in the Seventies. It was widely supported at first, but when winter came, and the sun didn't rise until 8:30 in a lot of major cities, crime rose unexpectedly, and the thought of energy savings turned out to be the exact opposite, the law was immediately reversed.

No offense but DST does not change the length of the day. I will never forget hearing someone say that DST was "burning up my grass."

I thought DST was a Benjamin Franklin idea, but it doesn’t matter. It needs to be phased out along with the horse and carriage.

Time is a social construct, not a physical manipulation of nature. Time zones and special time seasons are human manipulations mostly implimented for economic and transportation considerations. The Earth, as it rotates on its axis, and produces the different hemispheric seasons are natural manifestations, as are longest and shortest days, which have no natural relation to time.

Here's something to consider though.
With farmers it wasn't about the clock ... it was about the natural cycle, the circadian rhythms of the farm animals.
We kids still did what we had to do before school, but there were extra hours to work when we got home from football practice because there was still light.
On a lighter note we had to walk five miles to school each day ... uphill, both ways ... barefoot .... in the snow ... with a knapsack full books that weighed 25 pds ... in hand-me-down clothes.
