Mondo Duplantais in the Pole Vault or Imane Khelif in women's boxing?

I don't think these are as guaranteed, even with Russia being removed from competition. It's way too easy for mistakes in Gymnastics to cost it all as seen from floor and beam finals.

Even Duplantis has screwed up and lost some with his domination by not clearing easy jumps for him within the allotted jumps. Unless she gets an injury, Ledecky just sails away from everyone with ease.

I agree on the team finals with gymnastics, solely because it was other gymnast other than Biles that factored in and the beam alone can cost you the meet with one fall. But wit Biles on vault all she has to do is not fall and she wins. She could seriously hop back 10 feet or land off to the side or seriously stumble and she's still win. Her level of difficulty/starting score was so much higher than everyone else that it was pretty much a guarantee win. She wasn't falling.

I probably agree with you with Ledecky though, she was a sure fire lock and would have taken something even more drastic than Biles to lose.

Would never bet pole vaulting, can be wonky....the best of the best have had bad days. Favorites in the women's were struggling with the lower heights until they got their head right and then went higher and higher.

Never seen Ledecky take a day off, get mental or choke.

So her.

Mondo missing a hight under 6m 3 times would have to involve an injury.
