Hats off to the pitching staff

4 runs allowed in 3 games. Pretty good in my book. With 2 starting arms down.

If nothing else, pitching looks promising next year. Evans, Schmitt, Moore, and Paz for the weekend/ midweek could be as good as anyone in the country.

Schmidt Friday Paz Saturday Moore Sunday and move Evans back to long relief then stack the rest of the bullpen behind him in the portal

You don't take a smaller role in your money year when you have first round potential.

They pitched well this weekend, albeit against a pretty bad team. Seeing USCe at 7 conference wins is kind of wild after watching them play this weekend, but I guess "that's baseball" for ya. They also played Mizzou, which helped their record.
Last weekend was frustrating that the bullpen couldn't hold on to a single lead. The weekend before, our bullpen was pretty good against aTm, it was our starters that struggled. I know they were stretched thin with Evans being a late scratch last weekend, but if they were able to hang on to just one of those games, the postseason discussion is a little different today than what it currently is. Still not impossible, but as it sits now, it's improbable.
That said, I'm still riding with this team til the end (even though I might've quit them a time or 2 already
). The young players have been really good lately. Wish Stanny was healthy enough to be out there with them.

And you know this how? I’m sure Evans would rather do what will improve his performance and be best for the team

They last in every offensive category kept by man. But yea they were better.

First round level talents do not take multi million dollar hits for the team in college, nor should they.
Sure, you can take him out of the weekend rotation next year. But I guarantee you he's in it to start. That's why you'll have a hard time bringing in a top end pitching prospect if Moore comes back.
So, if you're Jay, you need to be certain a guy you're bringing in is better than Cooper Moore before your bring him in. You won't get a weekend arm plus bring back Evans/Schmidt/Moore.
I would rather run it back with the three we have than push one of them out, unless you get an Eyanson or above level arm.

Catchers have gotten their share of criticism but it all starts with commanding the zone
LSU has too many pitchers on staff that even though they throw hard but can’t command the zone

Every year under Yeskie (and even under Wes with Jay) the pitching staff has made a jump in May. Hopefully that is happening again
