FP&A manager

One thing I’ve really enjoyed in my FP&A role lately is using AI to improve my thinking process and logic development.

For example, I’m currently helping implement a BI tool at our company and rolling out dashboards across our teams. We’re giving people access to data they’ve never really had before (at least not this quickly or without a ton of manual work) and allowing them to analyze it in ways we never could previously.

What’s interesting is that I came into this with essentially zero IT background. But through using AI as a learning tool, I’ve become fairly comfortable with SQL, Python in Jupyter notebooks, and building logic within datasets to drive the right outputs and reporting.

The biggest benefit has honestly been the learning aspect. I don’t just ask AI for answers, I ask why it arrived at those answers, how the logic works, and what could be improved. It’s accelerated my learning curve tremendously.

I’m fortunate that while we still have deadlines and expectations, they’re realistic, and I’m given the freedom to build processes and help improve the company. It’s been a great balance and honestly a win-win.

Without Sernas bat it’s over.
This team underperformed but the injuries to pitchers and even our hottest hitter Brown didn’t help. Reset for next year.

Bring on football and basketball season

We need to get up on someone early with the bats. Without Serna, it’ll be tougher. Maybe he can go but I doubt it.

I think someone like Garcia will have to step up at some point.

Evans/Garcia tomorrow (really need to get through it with 2 pitchers)
Cowan and others Friday. (Williams)
Schmidt and others Saturday
Fontenot, Guidry and Sheerin Sunday.

I bet 2 of them are bald. And 1 talks in a funny voice. If so I know who they are because I recognized them when I go. They used to go to college drive location back in the day.

Do all coaches in sec over last 5 years. Curious to see where each stacks up.
4.5 years. Started in accounting. Worked for some of the bigger companies in BR. Worked my way up (always by job hopping) from staff to senior to accounting manager. Then during mba (also at lsu) got a cfo gig. Hated it and now I’m the FPA manager the same place I was the accounting manager. I enjoy my new role wayyy more than my old role. Got a lot of knowledge and business experience I can use in finance role. Only change I would make would probably go into public first for a little bit.

I’m doing some coding and stuff with a BI tool we are implementing. I use AI to help me but it’s been fun to learn and apply.

Overall I’m happy with it. Mba probably helped (graduated a year ago). Had a moment during mba where I was not sure what I was gonna do and it started impacting my mental health. Didn’t help that 3rd kid was on the way. Took a leap and in the end it all worked out for me and I feel it’s what I’m best at.
Because he won 2 titles in 4 years. /thread.
You idiots wanna go hire someone else and hope that person can win 3 championships in 4 years? What are y’all smoking.

If it happens again next year then maybe we can start to worry.
How are these numbers right? He’s been here 4 years not counting this year. That’s approx 120 games coming into this year.

My dad and I were going through some stuff in my old room literally last Sunday and we found a drawer with all my old Braves stuff. Signed baseball from when we went to the Astrodome to see them play in 1996. Pictures and plaques.
Man the memories. RIP Bobby.

re: I want to get more into dancing

I jokingly danced (more like hip thrusts) at Fred’s about 13-14 years ago. One of the chicks we were hanging out with for some reason was digging it and the rest is history. The only reason I tell this story is because how ridiculously bad I am at dancing and yet it was good enough for her. Good times.
I also played in that tourney. It was awful. Hadn't played it in about 8 years.
I’m gonna need you to stop saying stuff if you are not 100% sure.
No committment today as you stated.

Hats off to the pitching staff

4 runs allowed in 3 games. Pretty good in my book. With 2 starting arms down.
