I see the Algerian he/she is in the gold medal bout against someone from China. That ought to cause a lot of conflicting opinions on this board about who to root for.

Olivie Reeves set the OR in Snatch for her weight class.

Shes in a great spot as Clean and Jerk is her stronger event.

Duet synchronized swimming is horrible...another sport to run up the communist medal count.

Mikaela Shiffrin kind of broke Maria's two week long attempt to pass this show off as actually being done late at night. She said "last night" referring to Sha'Carri's "side eye". Maria having to be on top of events (occurring when she's likely sleeping) as she does an early morning 3:30-5am show is pretty damn impressive. Whenever Tirico decides to step back, she has done more than enough to earn that spot. ESPN really screwed up when they let her leave.

ETA: Bach is such an improvement from Rogue and JAS. He's able to communicate solid points without coming across as an elitist like the other two were not.

So why wouldn’t the US put just a little bit of effort into it? Seems it would be easy ways to get golds.

Because we are busy playing real sports. Not trying to be the best at hobbies like ping pong.

How many hobbies does China have left?

Because the US just doesn't pay to sponsor sports year after year. If we decided to spend millions per year on some of these like China, we could compete.

as of last night, a lot. Last I saw yesterday USA led gold medal count 33-32 and now china leads 37-33. They won 5 gold medals this morning in something. Didn’t even realize there were that many events left. Thought us was safe with all the gold medal matches today and tomorrow

IIRC they injected extra money before Atlanta/SLC. I expect the same thing for LA28.

We stole one in the 100m hurdles this morning, which was unexpected. Women’s soccer came through. Lots of track medals left to give out. We got this.
