Nice job baw. Keep up the great work and the updates..... We are relying on you
ok here we go! this project combines with the food board thread about boiling crawfish, the music board thread about getting a solid playlist of cajun/zydeco music and of course, the home/garden board for getting the shed up and going for my boil on May 2.
Where we are:
- Deck (phase 1) done!
- Bench done!
- Electrical done!
- Transferring tools, equipement & coke cooler, not started.
Of course my son immediately took the whole shed over thinking its his.
I'm not sure i put enough outlets on the shelf wall, what do you think?
FiL dropped off his old (but fully functional!) panel w/ breakers already included so that was very helpful.
and yes i had lots of assistance.
I need to run grab some barn door hooks to keep them latched open.

"oldies" station here in Nashville plays Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood almost every morning when driving my kid to school and I change the station. How did this ever become a "beloved oldie" and how did it get so much endless play in the 80s?
What you got?
ETa disclaimer I had a Frankie say relax tshirt in my clothing rotation in the 80s along with a Vuarnet sunglasses sweatshirt and a coca cold rugby jersey.

Yet here we are in 2026 listening to the same Simon and Garfunkel and Rolling Stones songs on our stereo FM radios instead of some crazy arse audio of the future (Bluetooth slop doesn't count).

highest integration standard possible.
having said that, i think to get the best use out of these, you'll probably want to spin up a HA server on a PC in your house somewhere.
i thought my reolink camera setup was 'ok' until i plugged it into HA; instantly HA found nothing had the latest firmware and due to a weird artifact of how reolink PoE cameras work when connected to their NVR, i never got any notification or way to do that.
HA literally just said 'this camera is out of date and this camera is out of date and your NVR is woefully out of date' and i was able to update everything right through the HA interface.
the system is VERY powerful; you just need to know how to get the most out of it; you have to go into each camera in the app, for instance, and crank up that 4K and framerate to get the absolute highest crystal clear videos.
terrible documentation; terrible references online to what and how you can manage your setup.
using AI, i was also able to finally get it working 100% local; yes its supposed to but i never took the time to make the 2 or 3 minor tweaks and pull the plug on the router to ensure everything worked as expected.
do you happen to know your NVR model?
i have fallen in love with my reolink system all over again after having HA integrate it.
thanks everyone for all the great replies in this thread!

Pics wiil help; most of these ideas came from this board as my remodel progressed. we did 100% of the planning, design, materials selection and electrical & just had a contractor put everything where we requested.
- Lots of drawers, floating shelves, PROFESSIONAL undershelf lighting cut into the shelves themselves, not LED light strips. Made all the difference.
- 4" 'halo ring' recessed lights that are also on a dimmer. flip the switch 3 seconds after turning on to toggle between halo and regular lights
- 36" sink, Bosch dishwasher, touchless faucet, garbage disposal button cut into the countertop, double trashcan pull-out
- all outlets are built into the shelves so you don't see any wall outlets anywhere in the kitchen.
- kitchen is just a bit too narrow for a dedicated island so we have a farm table that we sometimes remove.
Close up shot of the undershelf lighting cut into a groove in the shelf
- spice drawer next to stove as someone mentioned was smart. cant tell you how nice that is
- wife and i both hate looking at microwaves so we put an outlet in the pantry & put the microwave in there so you don't see it unless you're using it.
- completely lazy pasta filler behind the coffee machine because...i'm completely lazy and now i don't have to turn around and take 2 steps to fill it up. and yes i love this.
- knocked out the wall between kitchen & dining area and extended the countertops to built in buffet behind table (you cant see it in this pic very well)
- also had the cabinet guy continue them into the other room since space is a premium and the shelves on the right have a false back because we had to move the plumbing that was in the middle of the room to the wall and need to hide it.
- light fixture above table was in the 'to be thrown away' pile at Restore but my wife saved it and it couldn't hae worked out better.
- dogs were apparently part of the project which i was unaware of at the time.
- planned for oversized fridge & freezer because God Willing, CAD will never stoop down to pull a frozen pizza from a bottom mounted freezer that gets stuck pulling it out, throws ice all over the floor and in general is up there close to my NINTH CIRCLE OF HELL. NEVER AGAIN. i just open the full-size freezer and grab my bourbon ice mold at chest level like a civilized person now.

Eufy officially working at least from a read state (lock state, battery level, etc) and even though I can't lock through the dashboard but I'll take it. I've got the locking down pat in the app so I think I'm fine there.
They even locked when the power and Internet was out so they're little rock stars.

ok so i just created an AI video of the vacuum being announced and this video is now playing full screen right before the vacuum display appears :wah:
somebody please stage an intervention for me. i need some serious mental health help.

somebody please stage an intervention for me. i need some serious mental health help.

Bump. New HA update fixed my Bosch dishwasher and Roborock issues so i have the display jumping to a full-screen vacuum dash (complete with live view of vacuum -- white circle on the map -- and lines indicating where its already cleaned) and it drops back to the main display when done.
also nice as i can easily send it home from here if its annoying which it can be.
i need to regenerate my house map when the floor length window drapes aren't open to fix that 'bleed' you're seeing but i'm lazy. i'll get to it eventually.
love this shite!
