The last time Yorke got a hit

Not trying to pile on, but it seems incredible to me that his last hit was exactly a month ago, in the final game against Kentucky.
He's played in 11 games since March 29 and has gone 1 for 23. That's an .043 BA.

I laugh every time I drive by Canes and see his face and name on the screen.

Ya'll turned on him quick, fickle fans.

What's STOPPING him from blasting the ball?!!!!!

that's baseball. take an extended break from live at bats and its a struggle to get back in the groove. give him regular reps and by the Florida series he will be at least back to being able to consistently pop up to the infield on the edge of the outfield grass with an occasional walk here and there.

Pressure and level of play increased dramatically.

Before last night, Reaves was on a similar tear dating back to February 24. In 17 games played, Reaves had 2 hits across 25 AB (.080).
ETA: Reaves .080 batting average over this stretch is also the same figure as his slugging percentage in same time period. He has a staggering 1 XBH across 44 ABs this year.

When Hal Hughes was here, I wished CPM had made him bunt every at-bat. That would at least make them have to field it and throw to 1B.
Tanner and Yorke are basically there.

If you notice, Reaves never swings at first 2-3 pitches every AB, which I will admit I don’t hate given his inability to hit a baseball.
It’s just infuriating when you know the pitcher throws strikes and thus he has no chance to hit it. For example, in one of his ABs last night, he came up with 2 runners on with no outs and his sole job was to get a bunt down. After watching first two pitches, on third pitch he turned to bunt, gets a strike but pulled bat back and watched it go by. Jay pulled the bunt off for remainder of that AB. He actually came into contact with the ball for a fly out to RF that advanced runner from 2B to 3B, but this just another illustration how incredible it is that some of our starters are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Nah
That’s either a slump (everyone in baseball has experienced and seen that) or he’s broken.
I tend to think it’s the latter. He attempted to change things about his offensive game and he failed in that effort. Now there’s nothing he’s doing well. He’s easy to pitch to. I think he feels like he never sees a good pitch.

His obesity affects his swing plane against better pitching.

I will wish for him to find the ball again. Both sides of the ball. As a team the voodoo infield is real.
