How will the eastern states interact with the western states when the upper midwest, plains states and south refuse overflight privileges?

This is a great day for America.

We need a constitutional amendment to do away with partisan gerrymandering forever.
"Safe" Democratic districts where you win the primary election (and therefore the general election) by being as leftist as possible and "safe" Republican districts where you win the primary election (and therefore the general election) by being as right wing as possible are a very large part of what's wrong with American politics.
And this decision helps reduce the problem you are talking about.
2024 elections in majority-minority districts:
Mississippi 2 +32 Democrat
Tennessee 9 +46 Democrat
Louisiana 2 +40 Democrat
Louisiana 6 +13 Democrat
Alabama 7 +38 Democrat
Georgia 6 +50 Democrat
Georgia 13 +44 Democrat
Georgia 5 +72 Democrat
Georgia 4 +50 Democrat
et etc etc
If you do not account for race then every single majority-minority district that is redrawn will be more competitive. Every single one of them.
Majority-minority districts are probably the main cause that so many congressional districts have gotten uncompetitive. As you can see, it is easy to put almost all Democrats in a single district. Which explains why many Democrats have been arguing with doing away with such districts.
