No idea on effects upon the competitions. My worry is that something will happen to the athletes.

I would be nervous having this opening ceremony on the river instead of inside stadium
Would be easier to control the security for stadium
On the river like this could be like a Boston marathon type scenario

Update 3 high speed rails.

The rails remain in tact, what was targeted was the electronic system that runs the system.
That's almost more bothersome: "They" knew where to do the most damage with the least exposure to themselves. One group of "they" was repulsed , darned shame they weren't caught for intelligence purposes.

France 24 doesn't call it arson, malicious acts are their words. And it will take at lealst a day to get things working.

"Arson attacks were started to damage our facilities," it said, and explained that traffic on the affected lines was "heavily disrupted" with many cancellations, and that the situation would last through the weekend as repairs are conducted.
Whatever they want to call it, its still messed up. Will be interesting to find out who is behind it all. If its environmental activist... at least they have the best athletes on the planet to run them down

Sounds like it was either Russians or the extreme left

Just the beginning. I would be absolutely shocked if a major terrorist event doesn’t happen in Paris throughout these games.

We were supposed to depart London by train at 12:30pm. Loaded train, then had to unload and move to a different train. Finally departed at about 2:00pm. Arrived in Paris around 6:10pm. Was supposed to be a 1.5hr trip. But had to take a different track set due to the BS going on.
