Bill Cassidy’s downfall was his arrogance

If you’ve ever heard Bill Cassidy speak (I have been several events in person where he spoke and met him several times), the one overriding impression that he gives off every single time is that he thinks he’s smarter than you.
Of course, he did not feel led to represent his continents but voted to convict Trump based on his own ego.
Now, he will have plenty of time (the rest of his life) to think about what went wrong. My bet is that he dies without ever figuring it out

Yep. Like Nicole Wallace and Michael Steele. MSNBC uses them to show "hey, we give you the news from all perspectives, even Republicans".

Cassidy had ties to the Democratic Party in the 1980s and 1990s. He supported Democrat Michael Dukakis in 1988 for A president, for frick's sake. He was a donor to the campaigns of many Democrats including Mary Landrieu and Kathleen Blanco.
Kennedy is just playing a role. He was Democrat all the way up until the last year of Bush II.
