(NEXSTAR) – An Air Force base in Idaho is on lockdown after a reported crash during an air show.

Mountain Home Air Force Base, located about 55 miles southeast of Boise, was hosting its Gunfighter Skies air show on Sunday when the lockdown began. Shortly after 12:30 p.m. local time, social media posts from the base reported that it had been locked down.

In a follow-up post, officials said an “aircraft incident” had occurred, emergency crews were on scene, and “an investigation is underway.”

The Idaho Statesman reports that emergency rescue crews were responding to the base for a crash. An announcer informed attendees that four crew members were able to eject with “four good parachutes,” the outlet noted.

Viewers told local outlet KTVB that two jets crashed.

In a post to X, a user said their husband reported a crash at the base. A photo with the post showed black smoke rising in the sky. A photo in another post shared a similar view. Another post that appears to have video of the crash shows two aircraft colliding before four parachutes glide toward the ground as smoke rises in the background.

Nexstar has not independently confirmed the validity of these posts.

This is the first time in eight years that Mountain Home Air Force Base has held the air show, according to the Idaho Statesman.

Per the rules they’ll have to miss the first half of the next air show.

I hope all are OK.

Honestly, they looked like they were trying to make baby Growlers.

They just latched onto each other. Like how in the actual frick?

Also the bottom plane is lucky as hell the top was offset just enough for them to safely eject.

I thought the same thing. Thank God they didn’t just hit the other plane when they ejected.

That’s how I assumed an AI collision would look. Sometimes real life disappoints.

Trying to pull off the fire fly mating trick is tough. Glad they’re all ok but that was a pricey frick up.

Was it part of the show? If so very entertaining ejections.

I mean NASCAR is only worth watching for the crashes

I am holding out that the video is AI. The crash may be real but that video just doesn’t seem to work with physics.

Thank God they were able to eject. Can we stop wasting millions of dollars on air shows?

Damn.

Thank God they all got out.

I was stationed at Mountain Home from 2013 to 2017. Attended that air show multiple times.

I wonder how many Air Force submarines or ships have collided. Maybe we should leave the flying to the Air Force and the sailing/submersibles to the Navy.
