Now it has been updated on the official medall account China with 40 and USA with 39 so if we win womens basketball we are tied with China for gpld and overall winner when you go to tiebresker of most silver medals or most overall medals. Go USA AND WOMENS BB DONT Let us down.

By my count, we have to win women’s hoops, and China can not win the gold in women’s 81kg weightlifting
Edit: the MF’er took gold in weightlifting

only women's hoops is left, no?

I wish our men were better at niche sports
It's almost always the women winning golds in the less popular events

we just need our women to win in basketball to tie. i'll take that.

Really you can blame men’s swimming for this. We walk away with it if they don’t get their arse beat up and down the pool like they did

Excellent point

not really... they weren't the favorites to win... they missed a chance at gold, sure, but to say they laid an egg is incorrect

she was so favored they probably could have just gone ahead and given her the Gold last night before the competition... lol

Im confused, does the medal count include this weightlifting?

They weren’t the favorites to win, so you could argue that they didn’t really choke it away.
But that performance was definitely “laying an egg” and a pretty bad showing, favorite or not, in a gold medal game.

they won't.... they will dominate this game... it expect it get ugly pretty quickly, and by halftime, the game will essentially be over....

No, they didn’t. USA is ranked behind the Italians in world competition in women’s volleyball. USA was the under there as well as to the Brazilians in the semis.

Kennedy Blades was a -150 favorite going into the Gold match and lost.
Yet another example amongst 10 where the US f*cked it up royally. Especially things like the High Jump, 4x100 meter baton passing, countless others.
Overall, extremely dissappointing Olympics from the US. This was as bad as LSU going 6-6 in a season.

Part of this is that many other countries put nothing into women’s sports. Other part is that Title IX hurts the men’s Olympics side because football isn’t an Olympic sport.
Football is different than every other collegiate sport. I’d like to see it treated separately, and the Title IX financial requirement be that every other sport have a men’s and women’s program.
Most of the cost of starting a program is facilities, it shouldn’t be expensive to add men’s programs in sports where there’s already a women’s program.

There was a Korean who was the favorite going in, but I admit her and the Chinese gal were essentially 1A and 1B

It’s already included in the count.

Can the US also do this?
You wanna give your 7 yr old child to the government so they can train 12hrs a day for their whole life?
That’s what China is doing with diving and sports like that.
I’m not saying that ironically that’s literally what’s happening

lol. They are going to win 126 medals, most dominant T&F performance since 1984, and the disappointing swim team still won more golds and far more medals than anyone.
We had some surprises and some disappointments, like every country
