Maybe, but here we are today with central banking, housing assistance, farm subsidies, unions, medical cards, EBT, and many, many different ideas stemming from the idea of socialism. Even Social Security stems from it.
I for one, wouldn't care if all semblances of socialism are gone. How many here would say the same?

Don't forget oil subsidies... The social state in America exploded post WW2 and hasn't stopped. Socialist policy is American as Apple Pie.

…but I’m glad every time I see a new profession of socialism. I grew up with closeted socialists and communists. At least they’re identifying themselves now.
