Who knew?
Staying in Savannah, GA this week. There’s a team of them here at my hotel. The one female is kinda cute for an Army girl.

What are they driving?
about 30 years ago I was good friends with an older guy that was an instructor at the Navy Dive Experiment Station in Panama City. His joints were shot. I don't think I would want to make a career out of this.

This reminds me of a great joke I heard recently...
What's the easiest way to kill a Navy Diver?
Put a mirror at the bottom of a pool.

That's a pretty cool MOS. Might could get out the service and become an underwater welder for offshore oil companies in civi life and stack them bills up.

Can’t be as bad as the Coast Guard building a training facility in Central Alabama.
I know Coasties work across the country, but wouldn’t being near the coast or water play a bigger part in training.

I knew a guy that had been through every hard school the army had. He was Ranger, SF, etc.
He said army dive school was one of the hardest he'd ever gone to.

Pressure induced bone disease. Nitrogen bubbles form in the bones and turn them into Swiss cheese. Usually the hips are most affected. Not something a recreational diver ordinarily has to worry about. It takes years of exposure at depth. Typically an occupational hazard of commercial and military divers. Modern, more accurate dive tables supposedly mitigate the risk.

There is a submarine testing deal on a lake in Idaho. Sonar stuff I believe.

Wasn’t it the Army that built the Gaza pier? Maybe they should leave MOS like this to the Navy.

I bet you some Senator or Representative from Idaho must have been sitting on an Armed Forces Committee and must have slipped that into a bill requiring the XZY facility to be located in his state or district.

Well it just so happens that I'm a certified muff diver. Maybe I should enlist.

My cousin was an underwater welder in Alaska. It is a very dangerous job. He did it for ten years, then quit to become a regular welder.

Rarely do commercial divers actually weld underwater. So much easier to put on a clamp these days.

just think how much it adds to the cost of an F35 that parts need to come from like 45 different states.
