At the last Olympics, he became the first male wrestler to win four Olympic gold medals when he dominated in Tokyo, going through the field unscored upon in all four matches. He gave up only two points in four matches this time. He wrestled in his first Olympics in 2004

Absolutely insane.
Especially to do it in a sports that doesn’t lean more to a hobby like Curling or Archery/Shooting but one that requires peak fitness.

Carl Lewis might have done it in the long jump if the US didn't boycott the 1980 Olympics.
He was the 1980 NCAA champion with a jump of 8.35m (27- 4") and was considered one of the top high jumpers in the word and he made the Olympic team. The winning jump that year (8.5m) was better than anything he had posted but Carl always stepped up his game at the Olympics.
It's almost unthinkable that someone could have won a track and field event FIVE Olympics in a row. Skeet shooting...OK, but long jump???

Is he setting his shoes on the mat in that picture? Like to indicate retiring?

The guy he wrestled for gold was his former Cuban training partner who defected to Chile just to get away from Lopez.
