My German Shepherd sees me in the kitchen and she will plant herself there waiting on to give her something like cheese or some of the food I am cooking.

My wife has a Chihuahua/Maltese mix.

Its IQ is about that of a tomato. And she’s as vicious as a Velociraptor and has no concept of size. She got off her leash on day on a walk and went after a neighbor’s chocolate lab. Scared the shite out of the lab. And I don’t mean that metaphorically. The lab, a full grown male, literally shite itself.

My daughter has a pure bread Pug. She loves everyone and has the IQ of a potato. Seriously, she struggles to blink her eyes in unison.

Serious question: What's smarter, a tomato or potato?

Our sweet lab mix can sit etc but will not retrieve at all. Great around other dogs and cats. She’s about 15 still goes on daily 1-2 mile walks in the foothills of northern Az.
She will wait for me to pick up her deposits and knows the way home.
Will stop in the shade and chill.

My dog Missy (RIP) understood at least 40 words.

Many, many years ago, my ex and I had a yorkie. One day I sat down with a pad and pencil and started writing down all the words he knew. It was over 200.

I have a 5 year old English Mastiff, he is smart but lazy. When he wants these salmon treats, he can do things that make me get wide eyed how smart he can be.

Have a 9 year old Chcolate Lab. When the Invisible Fence guy came out to train her he said she was super smart, It only took 2 sessions. If you say walk or treat you better deliver cause she will lose her shite. She probably knows about 300 words. She goes outside everyday if it’s not raining or snowing at 3pm cause school bus comes at 330.

I have hound rescues

They are incredibly smart, just not people pleasers and quite hardheaded.

Hounds know commands, they just choose to ignore them.

Our Malinois mix is alarmingly smart. So smart that she has anxiety—knows when to worry, and enough deductive reasoning to cause problems. She responds to commands well, but is intelligent enough to think for herself and decide to be recalcitrant. She can solve problems very quickly.

The heeler/husky is not quite as smart, but more trainable as she wants to please and do the right thing. Super protective and loyal…especially regarding our daughter. Whereas the malinois is always kind of looking out for herself. Though she would likely hurt someone who tried to harm me.

Like most of my past dogs from very different breeds, my female pug is a brilliant retard. Just in different ways.

I had a Chihuahua put the bum rush on my now deceased Aussie Shepherd (who was a very skilled snake and raccoon fighter). Chihuahuas rely on noise and intimidation, as did my Aussie. The difference was my Aussie would go after whatever she was after full speed. I was glad she was on a leash because she wore the f out of that Chihuahua.

My Border Collies have always been super smart.

Our dog is 16 years old, can't see or hear great anymore but still jumping on furniture like she is a young pup. I really don't know if she will ever die.

oh to answer the OP's question, dumb as hell.

Dated a woman with a rottweiler that could open and then empty a refrigerator.

She finally had to put a latch on the door to keep it from feeding itself.

I had a lab that did that. We had a strap around the door handles. Such a pain in the arse. But a great friend and dog otherwise.

I have an Aussie. He can understand some commands, but he’s not particularly smart and has absolutely zero spatial awareness.

We feed our dogs at 5 pm everyday, just about, and at 4:55 one of them will go pick up his bowl and bring it to the child whose chore it is to feed the dogs. Also I kept shoveling his shite to one side of the yard and he eventually picked up that's where he should shite. It's amazing.

He also knows "go check on the kids" and he'll run upstairs or outside and check on the kids and come back. And "go see momma" he'll go jump in bed with my wife who goes to sleep before me. Likes to hold his own leash in his mouth when we walk, but I have to be careful because a squirrel could derail this trick.

All of this plus the standard things like sit, lay down, etc.

ETA:

He's also 120 lbs and thinks he's a lapdog, so that's an issue. Will actually get on the couch and try to curl up on your lap. Don't think we'll ever change his mind though

My soon to be 11 year old English Bulldog acts dumb, but she's actually kind of smart. But she's way more stubborn than she is smart.

fricker stole a golf ball from our room and took it outside to destroy it. While trying to get him to drop it, I yelled, “show me the fricking ball!”. He put it to the front of his mouth, stared at me, then ran off.

If there are other dogs in the yard and everyone gets fed, he runs to the edge of the property and barks his head off, causing the rest to abandon their food. He runs back and scarfs down as much as he can until they return.

We have a French bulldog he may be the stupidest thing I’ve ever encountered in my entire life. I caught him eating his own shite. The other day almost gave him away. When I say this dog is dumb. He’s beyond dumb. The only thing he understands is food.
