A group of former U.S. Justice Departmentt employees, with the watchdog Washington Litigation Group, has filed an emergency suit to halt President Trump's re-painting of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
The lawsuit blasts Trump’s plan for a gaudy, swimming pool blue revision to the historic site. The suit says, "The grey, achromatic basin was not incidental to the design. It was the design."
Here’s the complaint:
LINK
The lawsuit said, ‘"The 1999 National Park Service Cultural Landscape Report for the Lincoln Memorial Grounds specifically identifies the dark-tiled basin as a character-defining feature of the historic landscape, noting that 'the dark color of the tile created the illusion of greater depth and a more profound reflection."
The lawsuit also argued, “Defendants engaged a swimming pool contractor to resurface the Reflecting Pool.. a vivid blue coating.. Shockingly, Defendants started altering the historic character of the Reflecting Pool without following Congressionally mandatory procedures.”
Trump made an unannounced site visit to the reflecting pool Thursday. He has defended his project by arguing, “It never had the color people wanted, but now it's going to have the great color.”
The changes comes amid a whirlwind series of Trump-ordered changes to the Washington, D.C. landscape. Some of those projects — including Trump’s decision to shutter the Kennedy Center and his orders for a new White house ballroom and East Wing — have also been challenged in the courts.
The Washington Litigation Group lawsuit challenging the Lincoln Memorial pool redesign argues, "Millions of visitors from all over the world walk along, gaze into, and/or photograph the Reflecting Pool each year. The pool is the site of the 1963 March on Washington, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his 'I Have a Dream' speech, among the most consequential moments in American civic history.”

It's framed very similarly to another one we've seen, that's for sure.
That was the very first thing that I thought of when I saw it.

Honestly, I don't think some of these people can help themselves. It doesn't matter what he does, big or small, some people will immediately oppose it and act as if it is some monumental affront to the American people.

In fairness, this was a major sticking point during the last campaign and Trump himself has been pouring over color swatches to find the perfect shade of blue.
These dedicated, retired government employees who devoted their lives to the color gray are understandably concerned. Fighting the fascism of routine maintenance and and periodic updates is core to their sense of duty.

As I've said before - the man could cure cancer and liberals would take to the streets to protest how he's now made global overpopulation worse and is destroying the funeral home industry.

Yeap Trump could cure cancer and give everyone a million dollars and the dems would still cry, file lawsuits, and try to impeach.

Bravo, sir.

I thought this was a Babylon Bee article at first. Honestly, the democrats are very sick people.

Not his to change..leave it as designed. He doesn't have to change every friggin historical site to suite his own tastes.

Making the Reflecting Pool look nice for a fraction of the cost = bad.
Destroying a public park on the National Register of Historic Places to build the Obama Presidential Center for a billion dollars and give it an Eastern Bloc aesthetic = good.

I am still trying to wrap my head around the absurdity of this lawsuit. Basically the left is now in favor of pond scum, garbage, and algae.
