I'd rather see them as an independent country but I just hope they get out regardless.

Your reading comprehension is terrible. You said the gift doesn't belong to the USA because I personally can't use it. I pointed out to you that Marine Force 1 clearly belongs to the USA and I cant use that either. So your line of logic based on whether or not I can use it is completely irrelevant to the discussion.
I can't use the desk Resolute, either. It was a gift from a foreign government to the USA. So your line of reasoning tying to whether or not anyone but the president can use it is just asinine.

Does Marine Force 1 belong to the USA the same as my claim is?

re: EPA is looking to remove the idling stop requirement from cars

It actually doesn't prolong the life of the engine. Every time you turn the engine off and then 30 seconds later activate the starter solenoid that turns the crankshaft flywheel, you're essentially forcing the engine RPMs to jump from a dead stop to 750-800 or so almost instantly. That is going to wear out both the starter and crankshaft/flywheel.
Wouldn't affect the compressor and alternator as much, but will definitely put stress on the serpentine belt.
From what I have read and seen with studies on fleet vehicles and general reliability reports, there are no discernable increases in issues with engine wear/life. To this point, it is only assumptions. It makes sense that some things might wear more.
At this point the only data driven claim I have seen is that some specific BMW model from 2012-2015 era had issues with the timing chain stretching due to the increased starts so the BMW shops were replacing timing chains around 100-120k miles whether there were measurable issues or not.
I have read one paper that said AGM batteries are better suited for SS than traditional VRLA but I think I have only seen GM put AGM batteries in their cars.

Yes, it does. Typically with school pickup my wife will average about 18 MPG over a tank w/out using SS. When she does use start stop she gets consistently 22+MPG. She can be sitting in that line for over 30 minutes at times.
re: If you are going to travel through time, you also have to travel through space

all points of space and time are connected. You can go from one to the other without traversing all of space between.

I always figured this has got to be bad for the life of the car. Restarting all the time in stop and go traffic has to add wear, right?
Cold starts are where the vast majority of engine wear occurs. the SS only happens when the oil is warm enough and the engine is already lubricated. The reduction in engine revolutions over the life of the engine should prolong the engine life but other ancillary devices like alternators, compressors, starters, etc may not like the added starts. Maybe it is harder on batteries?

The auto shut-off at a stoplight is the stupidest fricking thing, all it does is speeds up how fast you’ll have to get something replaced in your engine from constantly stopping and starting
While i'm not a fan of the SS, it doesn't add any increased wear. It only works when engine oil is warm enough and the oil has already been pumped completely throughout the system. It maybe wears out a starter or something depending on how the restart is accomplished. I think some cars fire off a spark plug to get the engine turning again.
I will say it does save a lot of gas in my wife's car.

All of that is wildly incorrect. You basically posted the deranged view that radical leftists have of the Ivies, which is about 80 years out of date. Todays Ivies are overwhelmingly non-white. Further, if you take Jews out of the white column, there's hardly anybody left, and those few that are left are extremely woke (David Hogg for example).
What I said is accurate and first hand knowledge. I have had to recruit engineers on the east coast and I am very familiar with the ivy League process. Legacies are automatically accepted.
The non white issue is for accepting non legacy applicants. You have to realize there are two different categories of students.

No, it’s not. It puts you in the bottom 25% of accepted students at every ivy.
It only does if you go by the stats where they filter out the legacy students (the majority of students) because they had no entrance requirements other than parents who are alumni.

I dont think it is as much of a chicken/egg situation. Look at tennessee. All it took was a coach to improve them. Their facilities and fanbase were crap yet Vitello still came in and won right away. Then came larger commitment and the success becomes sustainable and even continues to grow.
Like all college sports, you are one coaching hire away from turning the tables in a huge way.

I think people have a huge misconception of what ivy league schools are vs what they advertise to be.
Ivy school enrollments are almost exclusively comprised of legacy students with terribly mediocre academic records. They hand out As intentionally so they can market stellar undergraduate performance and help their legacy students get in to any post graduate program they want. They are nothing more than diploma mills for the rich.
Legacy students do not need to meet any of the minimum entrance requirements the schools advertise.

The problem with this is that I have to punish my kid for late work in spite of the fact that she got an A.
Newsflash, you are responsible to make sure your kid is learning everything they need to because modern schools aren't going to do it. They will pass anyone. The parents have to hold their kids to higher standards.
On a tangential note, this is why we homeschool our kids in elementary. When they get to middle school they are in a position to learn from teachers who are putting forth only the minimum effort and can be mostly self reliant to learn.
