Chinese divers get better scores for worse

Dives simply on past reputation..
They totally screwed up a dive and still scored higher than a very good dive from the Americans.
They are so good and it's impossible to beat them If they get preferential treatment.

Are you talking about the kinesiology tape? It’s there for muscle stabilization. Sometimes divers will also wear tape on the parts that hit the water hardest to prevent swelling.

Meh. The tape isn’t a big deal at all. You’ll probably see some with it in their shoulders for 10m.
100%, Kassidy and Sarah did dive 4 better than the Chinese. I still think the Chinese should have won, but it would have been closer. So proud of those women. They have both fought injuries and had surgeries over the years. Both had times where they thought they were done because of it. My daughter (no pics) dove at The Woodlands but was a few years older than Kassidy. They are such nice but ultra talented folks. Her brother, sisters, and parents were all athletes and just pretty much excel at everything they do. That’s pretty much the story for all the Olympians I’ve known. Hard workers, talented, and just keep on trying.

Sometimes that happens, but they’re also so technically perfect that even if their synchronization doesn’t match up, the individual dives are generally amazing.

The fact that the judges are only on the side and not also in the front kinda defeats the purpose of looking at synchronization.
Some dives that look perfect from the side look average/good from the front.

Happened again today in men's 3m synchro..
Scores were within a half point going into final round with China up..
China did a very good dive but there were technical issues and the Mexicans did a very good dive and had the edge in difficulty..
Somehow China extended the lead 1.3 points.
No way in hell that was fair..Mexico won that..
