I also have a 590. Several friends all recommended the Lumberjack brand which I couldn't find locally so I ordered though dick's. Once that supply ran out, I started using Kingsford, which I think Recteq recommends. ...

re: Any woodworkers ever fool with live oak wood? - Glock17
BTW you really don't want a live edge cuttingboard unless it is solely decoration.
Those are some great looking boards. I’ve made a few, but nothing that complex. I’ve used a maple/walnut combo This is the last one I made almost a year ago [img]https://i.postimg.cc/cHfdR...

Any woodworkers ever fool with live oak wood? - Glock17
I had a live oak that had to be cut last week. I got a few of the pieces and I wanted to try to make some cross cuts once it drys some with a chain saw and use it to make a live edge cheese board or something. Is it even worth trying or will the oak split to bad? I figured it won’t cost me anythi...

re: B8con - Glock17
I’ve cured and smoked a few bellies and they’ve all come out great. I use the “EQ” method which you weigh the meat and it tells you how much sugar, salt, curing salt to use. I’ve always done the nitrates. Usually cure for 7-14 days, then rise and put in the fridge for 8-24 hours uncovered before ...

re: Pellet Grills - Glock17
Ok, your post sent up a red flag. Are you saying I won't get copious amounts of smoke from a pellet grill? Also, does the pellet grill allow you get a nice bark on a brisket or butt, just like a traditional smoker?
below 250 my rectec produces plenty of smoke. Once you start getti...
It’s finicky on temp control
I've heard that complaint about Traeger's often. I've been pleased with the consistency of the temps with the rectec. It'll hold temp 98% of the time a couple of degrees plus or minus of where you set it. ...
