Good.

I’d also tell them that I lost my medal in that boating accident with my firearms.

The Romanians asked that all three gymnasts with scoring issues be given a bronze. It's probably the kindest way to seek a remedy in all of this.

Someone on X said that sounded good but was problematic because the rules within FIG only allow them to name one person in each spot, so their request to the IOC regarding medals has to line up with that. I guess each sport administers its events at the Olympics but then works through the IOC for the awarding of medals.

And to think, if they had judged Voinea correctly, she gets bronze and none of this becomes an issue.

Just write a letter in response.

“frick you. She’s been through enough. If you want to give one to the other gymnast, make a new one.”

Who gives a shite how Chiles feels? She stole a podium moment from the Romanian girl that cannot be replaced. The person who should have been on the podium, watching her flag raised at the event won’t get that because of an improper challenge.

Yep.

There were some serious judging issues going on for that particular event. By rights that bronze medal should be going to Voinea but the execution of a particular routine can't be appealed.

You can give the other girl a bronze too but I’d never give my medal back.

They aren’t wrong. The TV commentators at the time said this was gonna happen because the Romanian team didn’t dispute And the American team did.
This is more on the Romanian coaches

You can’t review the OOB on the other Romanian gymnast. Yes it was a judging error, but during the meet the Romanians wouldn’t have been able to request a review.

No, I think this is more on the judges than it is the coaches. They said Sabrina Maneca-Voinea of Romania stepped out of bounds, docking her a full tenth of a point, when replay shows she clearly didn't. Then the judges failed to factor in Chiles's routine difficulty into their final score while all the while failing to notice that America's appeal came too late to count.

The judges 100% screwed the pooch, not the coaches, and most certainly not the gymnasts.

I believe I have stated this multiple times. The only thing that can be appealed to the judges is the difficulty rating if I'm not mistaken. I'm simply pointing out the fact that the judges shite the bed that day and ruined the event for three very solid gymnasts.

And this post right here is why I hate having gymnastics (I know it’s an original Olympic sport) rhythmic gymnastics, rhythmic swimming, diving, skateboarding, dressage, and every other “artistic expression of athleticism” as Olympic Events.

It’s not that these competitors aren’t exceptionally athletic, exceptionally skilled, and that the events aren’t exceptionally difficult, it’s that the winner is determined, ultimately, by the whim of judges and not by a scoreboard.

If it wasn’t clear to you from the messaging from the faux medal ceremony, they were only representing a percentage of America

Jordan Chiles' sister states the inevitable:

"The gymnast's sister, Jazmin Chiles, spoke out about the decision and the corresponding backlash on her Instagram Stories, saying "Racism is real, it exists, it is alive and well."

People

Making me pull for the Romanian.

They deducted the Romanian for stepping out of bounds when she didn’t. They righted a wrong.

We don't have this kind of drama in the breaking competition.
