Women finished first round today at Even par. Currently tied for 7th with a few teams still playing.

Scoring
Four very good, and at times great, players that were part of the 2025 championship. Thanks for playing for the Tigers!

Like any other occupation, it depends on location, experience, etc., but here is a good site to explore. The link below is for the BR metro area but other cities can be found on the site.

That’s what happens when you play a catcher in right field for his hitting.

Looks like it took Simpson a while to adjust to SEC level pitching. It’s unfortunate that he started slowly then got hurt before coming back.

When OU catcher flames out on the minors he can become an umpire. He’d probably be good at calling pitches.

Sheerin didn’t like Willits laughing about pickoff.

But language sounded like a boxing match.

The ABS zone is 19 inches wide and

23.1 inches tall for a 5’ 6” batter

And

27.3 inches tall for a 6’ 6” batter.

I don’t know how that compares to the zone intended to be called pre-ABS.

Losing teams give away 2 outs on bases.
Notice how no one ever spoke out against Matt McMahon.
If this one goes a full nine, it won't end until 8:30-8:45, then warmup. 9:00 or later start.
You are right that the number of 'tough' ball/strike calls in a game is probably 50 to 75.

Believe me, I'm not defending Jeff Head and I've made fun of his calls in the past. I think he knows the rules as well as anyone, but his pitch calling is not the best. I was just surprised that only 8 were challenged, he got 3 of them right, and the 5 he missed were all within a ball width of the zone.
Jeff Head had only 5 calls overturned by challenge.

308 total pitches in the UK vs Vandy game (77 batters). Some are hit/fouled off and some are swung on and missed, but 5 out of 200 or so that were taken is not bad.
2022 - .920 and 4.32

2023 - .986 and 4.47 (great hitting)

2024 - .900 and 4.36

2025 - .912 and 3.73 (great pitching)

2026 - .880 and 5.69

1991 - .924 and 3.67 (great pitching)

1993 - .925 and 3.73 (great pitching)

1996 - .977 and 3.38 (great at both)

1997 - 1.019 and 4.62 (great hitting)

2000 - .974 and 4.43 (great hitting)

2009 - .921 and 4.02 (solid at both)

(This is not a direct apples-to-apples comparison as it is known that the bats/balls have changed over the years but does give an idea.)

.912 is lowest team OPS to win championship; 4.62 is highest team ERA to win championship.

You have to outscore the opponent - either hit/get on base more and/or allow fewer baserunners/fewer runs with better pitching. Defense helps the ERA also.

UCLA has a 3.34 team ERA and .914 team OPS
Georgia has a 5.05 team ERA and a 1.062 team OPS.

As soon as the polls close and the Early Voting results are posted, the final outcome will likely be known.

I almost wish they would wait to release the early voting results at the end.
