If you're going to host by far the most prolific international event in the world watched at some point by over billions, it should be in a modern stadium aka a SoFi, Jerry World, Metlife, Allegiant Stadium.. not some mid to late 90's outdated stadium.

Wasn’t a big theme of this Olympics that they could be done at a reasonable cost without bankrupting a country? No more $40 billion dollars rotting in a jungle somewhere sort of thing?

Also the Disc that outlines the perimeter at the roof. Looks weird.

Typical ignorant American take. “It’s not what I’m used to so it sucks.”

Get outside of your bubble for a minute. There’s a whole world outside of Orange Beach and Pigeon Forge.

I think Brazil was the final straw. Not even 6 months later everything had begun to rot because they didn't want to spend the resources on maintenance. They renovated their biggest stadium but didn't do anything after the games.

Most of these Olympic stadiums are built for one time use or at least built to be repurposed to a smaller venue after the games and adjust for a specific sport.

What do they normally use stade de France for since psg doesn't play there. Just curious.

They play a lot of rugby matches there. Both international and professional off and on year round.

Now look at SoFi Stadium. SoFi stadium absolutely blows this venue out the water. That will be where the 2028 opening and closing ceremony is.

It’s a pretty ambitious goal with also having the swimming in there.

I hope some folks realize NFL stadiums aren't large enough (field level) to host T&F events. It isn't an apples/apples comparison.

There is a rumor that the Saints will be in that stadium in 2025 or 2026

As someone who’s been to both the Stade de France and SoFi in the last 5 years, I’m not sure what’s outdated about the former. Any tangible examples?

The correct way to think about it is what incremental value does SoFi actually provide for nearly 10x the cost? It’s cool that there’s an excessive amount of screens to look at during commercial breaks, that doesn’t make other stadiums all that much inferior

Nicer stadiums also entail corporate sterility that can’t hold a candle to the “old” stadiums out there. Give me Lambeau or the Dome for a big game over anything built in the last decade

That has more to do with higher prices, not the stadiums themselves. A stadium is just concrete and steel

Swimming in SoFi......

Reminds of the Spurs putting up the curtain at the Alamodome.

But with a nice creature comforts of a video board for those far away.

Gonna be interesting.

I'd rather see the traditional nautical center with all swimming, diving, water polo, etc. at one location.
