I pull for him every game except for against the Cardinals.

Apparently it’s working.

Is there a better Pitcher in The Bigs, because I don't think Skubal is better. Pittsburgh needs to Lock Him Up to a Huge Long Term, he could definitely bring back "We Are Family"

I don’t think there is. He’s starting to go real deep into games now too.

Pure Dominance, I don't know why they don't let him finish, but that's a thing of the past now it seems, he is becoming The Face of Baseball.

One bad stretch of innings can inflate an ERA and look worse than it actually is.

However...

One bad game usually means that a pitcher's ERA will not get much below 3.00 for the rest of the year if he is really good for the duration. To get under 2.00 after starting 67.50 is mind boggling.

it's truly incredible what he's doing. he hasn't walked a batter since the 3rd inning 4 starts ago. He pitched 8 innings tonight and only threw 98 pitches, threw 7 innings his last start in only 92 pitches.

His WHIP is just disgusting right now at 0.64, and that's with his first start lasting just 0.2 IP and allowing 6 base runners. The modern record for WHIP in a season is 0.73 by Pedro back in 2000.

He's figured out how to both strike guys out, albeit at a lower clip, and pitch to weak contact to keep his pitch counts low, and he's only walked 7 batters in 9 starts. His OppBA is at .146.

He's not human right now. He's somehow pitching even better than he did last year in a ridiculous season and he's still only 23 years old.

(but for some reason he cannot beat the Cardinals )

saw some tweet after that start talking about what he'd need to do and how difficult it would be to get back to his ERA last year....he's already there and it's only May 12

I’m a huge LSU fan who is also a huge Detroit Tigers fan. I am biased to both Skenes and Skubal. Skenes is better. It’s closer to a 1A 1B situation, but my money is on Skenes having watched both of them a ton. Skubal is him too tho, Detroit is missing him and El Mago really badly right now.

I saw his first start on the tube and although he wasn't sharp and put on a couple runners with bases on balls, he was dinged with earned runs when his centerfielder badly misjudged a ball which resulted in a bases-clearing double. IIRC he was removed during the second inning after only recording 4 outs or so, accounting for the greatly inflated ERA. Must have been alien tier since then.

It’s insane that 1 the pirates pulled him so early in that first start and two that in the year 2026 we don’t have logical scoring in baseball where a clear easy play that a normal fielder makes should be ruled an error when you misplay it like their cf did.

Maybe if they didn't put a fricking shortstop in centerfield he wouldn't have had such a bad first day
