I'm convinced that the only reason most of these top NBA players still go to the Olympics time after time is to just make incredibly athletic unclaimed children and bang half the Olympic village.

This would make a great tv show. Get a bunch of Olympians that are either good looking or great personalities and have them compete in a sort of Decathalon of other random Olympic events.

I think well respected guys like Carmelo and Durant having nothing but extremely positive things to say about US basketball has been a huge help.
Ant even said that when Durant said he was going to play, he cleared his schedule instantly because if it was important enough for Durant, then it was important enough for him.
I also think that having the athletes not be so secluded and interacting with others (Kobe at Beijing beach volleyball, LeBron meeting Bill Gates before the Olympics in London, even Ant and the ping pong stuff) travels fast within NBA circles, as something worth pursuing.
