re: Is Sterling Lucas finalized yet?

According to the SC boards he's informed SC that hes gone and has been removed from the coaches group chat

He also handed out an lsu offer yesterday
Article

They want a hire before their bowl (December 31st) and have interviewed the interim Biff Poggi multiple times.

Poggi, Whittingham, Chargers DC Jesse Minter, and Packers OC Adam Stenavich are the four names mentioned.
"expected" is the word reporters use when a hire is done but not yet announced. That's the stage we're at with Sterling Lucas. I have no doubt that Elijah Robinson told us he was coming, and that's what all these guys reported on. Lucas is a bit different considering the SC side has also confirmed the news.

Kevin Smith is announced at this point, as are all the other offensive guys, based on the video LSU put out.

SC 247 reported Lucas was removed from the coaches group chat and SC on3 reported LSU is expected to announce it early this week.

For coaches they've already replaced?

These are signed and sealed. Now we wait for UGA to take care of business.

Right after that, one of the writers over there said Ole Miss expects them all back

So they really are pulling double duty lol

Posters on the Ole Miss 247 board are saying every coach except Weis is staying in BR and not going back, and Weis isn't 100% going back either

Because Sterling Lucas and LSU offered this kid today.

ETA: Also, this was the update from SC 247

quote:

Sounds like Sterling Lucas to LSU is official, per a very good source. He has been removed from the official coaches group communication chat.

FWIW, Lucas was one of the coaches I was referring to in my article this month when I mentioned some on staff were exploring other options.

I am also told Clayton White had begun the process of exploring replacements even before his departure became official.

Poster on the Ole Miss 247 board said their new OC was in the booth with Weis yesterday

Maybe it WAS his last game, seems far fetched though

Think it's more likely them coming in to do some portal evals and discussion then leave. Can't see them just leaving now

Jet from Oxford to BR

On3's Ben Garrett said he thought the Tulane game would be their last, whether they won or lost

The way this post is worded induces panic. This is nothing new from yesterday AT ALL. The SC side has completely conceded on 247 and On3 and they even have a successor lined up

Yes, we've known that. SC is already searching for a replacement though and it was never reported as "final"

Lane was reposting stuff about him though
A bit different from E-Rob on this one. Just waiting on the tweet from the school at this stage
I agree. Cig is from the Saban tree and would likely be a guy there

He's in his mid sixties though, so they'd need a HCIW behind him
Curious who the target would be

It's been said that the higher ups at Bama hate Lane and truthfully he doesn't fit what they'd be looking for, but I know our fans will be terrified of that

Could see a few guys, but honestly it's not a clear answer.

Glenn Schumann is a bama alum but I can't see bama going with a first-timer. They'd look at Lanning of course
I've done a lot of research on Lucas and talked to my guy at SC (same dude from earlier) and everything I know points to one conclusion:

This is an amazing hire.

He told me that Lucas is a "nasty" coach and an amazing recruiter. He's extremely upset that he left and doesn't really get the move.

His resume speaks for itself. Lucas was part of a nasty defensive unit in Baltimore from 2016-2020 and worked with the DL in Jacksonville under Urban Meyer. Obviously is most well known for turning the SC Edge group into one of the best units in the nation.

He's also incredibly young, not even 40. He's going to be huge for us and will have his unit playing really well.
SC fans are quite upset about this one.
