I'll say it. Until the black community cleans it's own house, nothing will change. No outside influence can do that. It has to come from within. It all began with President Johnson's "Great Society" in the 1960's. It destroyed the motivation for self improvement. It's intensions might have been honorable, but it's results have been devastating. It's going take someone smarter than me to find the resolution of how to brake this never ending cycle. But until then............

What I can't stand about people like you is the smug denial of reality.

Smug is about a 179-degrees wrong and denial 148-degrees wrong of a description.

Sure sign this is 1st time in your backyard. Your Bubble is now burst. It stings. Resets your reality. Center of gravity shifts 45-degrees (or more). Think I know the feelings.

I have lived in big (and dangerous) cities in US and a couple of EU countries. Never la-la land. Reality is my reality. I see it. I feel it. Tragic and horrific as it is at times.

Have learned to live w/Respond > React.

To be completely honest, I was at FQ fest seeing / thinking how bad is possible given some clientele I saw. Removed myself from that zone and found majority of like-minders of all colors and creeds and had a great time with them.

The thugs (all colors and backgrounds) are the problem. Their context is the root cause and all factors that led to it.

I think Proportionate / rational fear is seeing them for who they are and risks to society they present…and that they are the exception and not the rule. I am not going to let the few rule me. That does not require denial. Quite the opposite.

Any smugness I manifest will be to those who failed our society by creating and enabling thuggery to begin with. Respond.

Will not live in fear.

I would never live in Baton Rouge. Ever.

And I’m LSU alum.

I think my current city has a crime and “youth”/Edgar issue, but almost every murder is the result of two people doing shite they shouldn’t be doing. I don’t hear about innocent bystanders getting gunned down or killed.

In BR, you can teach your kid to do everything right, and they STILL have a higher percent chance of being killed than they would in almost any comparable city.

The only hope is if EBR builds a new Parish jail 4x the size of what we have now. Part of the problem is also lack of jail space.

Just curious, but what neighborhood are you in?

Also…how are the neighborhoods between Highland and Perkins near LSU?

I got this far. A person couldn't type anything more "smug". The fact that you could type those sentences and believe the term "smug" is 179 degrees off only proves that you're so lost in your own reality that it isn't even worth continuing the conversation.

Keep on keeping on...

DJT sends the National guard in. The 3% doing 95% disappear.

Good times are had by all.

BR is a shitty place to live, period!

If you have a chance to leave, GO and GO NOW!

I encourage my children to leave this hellhole!

We are doing quite well over-the-mountain thank you. Birmingham has roughly 200K citizens. Birmingham metro has 1.2 million.

I see this is 4 pages, I’m sure you got the proper message by now without me having to read.

oh frick off

I hope you’re never followed while taking a walk or home when someone breaks into your house or shot at by stupid kids with no respect for life

That’s all happened with the past two months in my neighborhood very close to the St. George border
