Loomis called them not asking for a trade but wanting to know how much.

That info gets relayed from San Francisco or whoever to an insider when they asked who's calling. The Saints get mentioned and now they're magically getting reported about trading up. That's not the case.

Loomis said yesterday that three teams called about trading but it wasn't anything serious. It happens all the time

Similar results, but would have to give up 132 instead of 150

SF would give up pick 33 & 90 for a total value of 225
Saints would give up picks 42, 73 & 132 for a total value of 225

Of the players we all know, this is one I hope for. With that said, when do the Saints ever draft a player in the 2nd round that we all want? Their board is always different than ours.

Top talent will be available at 42. I’m more interested in moving up with our 3rd. To late 2nd or very early 3rd.

We rarely miss on our 1st and 2nd rounders, though there are obviously a few exceptions.

These values are from the outdated Jimmy Johnson chart. This one is much closer to today's values and is generally in the ball park (unless a team gets desperate and goes overboard):

Is it? That Hill chart never seems to match up. I think it is something in between the two now.

Picks at the top can skew value easily, but if you look at picks outside the top 10 is is closer than other value charts I have seen.

Often top 10 includes positions with a premium on them like QB, DE, OT, and CB. Because of that teams often get better than equal value. But trades not involving those premium positions tend to be more in line.

Bidding can also unexpectedly increase the value received, whereas if it's just one team offering it tends to fall more in line.

I wouldn't be mad at that to go get someone they really like.
