A buddy met Mike Tyson in a boxing gym post biting off Evander Holyfield's ear. Said he exuded danger.

Funny, I met Tyson many times through friends when he lived in Scottsdale and never got that feeling from him, he was always extremely pleasant (especially if there were women around).

Interesting subject. I've told friends many times there weren't many men I was "afraid" of but there are three that stand out as coming across unhinged and that it was unsettling being around them. One was Roberto Duran. Was in the Bay Area with friends for a Wisconsin/Stanford football game in 1996 and ran into him in the Cadillac Bar & Grill in SF the night before the game. He was drunk and/or coked up and was fine when I spoke with him about his boxing career but other guys kept bugging him for his autograph and he was extremely agitated and wanting to fight. I vividly recall he had snot coming out of his nose and kept wiping it with his sleeve. I'm pretty sure he was solo and had no friends to reign him in and I bailed when it looked like it was getting out of control. I'm pretty sure he would have taken on the whole bar.

I played slo-pitch softball in the late 80's with a Arizona (Phoenix) Cardinal LB named Niko Noga. He was a Samoan with a head the size of a stop sign and when we went out after games he always seemed to find trouble. Two other Cardinal players on the softball team said the whole team was afraid of the guy and they shipped him off to Detroit. I remember he was always wanting to arm wrestle me.

In the early-to-mid 90's I traveled to LV for work quite a bit and boxed at Johnny Tocco's Ringside Gym when visiting. A lot of big-name boxers trained there, including Iran Barkley, who twice beat Tommy Hearns. One night a bunch of us from the gym went to a local nightclub on a weeknight and one-by-one the crowd dissipated until it was just he and I and another. Barkley was truly a crazy person and even the bar security kept their distance. He begged us to stay and continue partying and finally I snuck out. Again, he appeared under the influence of drugs. I saw him a few times after that and I kept my distance. He has since fallen on hard times and I believe he is (or was) homeless.

Gotta keep the folks in SPD happy! Medical-device rep, I'm assuming? (former Stryker rep here)

If I cancelled recently would I be considered a new customer if I sign up?

Yes but there is a workaround. I canceled my account during the recent Disney dispute and signed up again yesterday using a different email and payment method (credit card). It worked like a charm. A debit card will also work, obviously.

Probably Jack Dempsey beating the shite out of Jess Willard. He was giving up like 5 or 6 inches and 50 pounds which was unheard of at the time.

Good one. I would love to have witnessed in person Ward/Gatti I or Castillo/Corrales.

Nothing to do with tailgating, but I just got a case of Spotted Cow, a Belgian Red and a Fat Squirrel delivered to me this week by a friend who went home to Wisconsin last week.

All three are very good and Moon Man (pale ale) and Staghorn (a seasonal Octoberfest beer) are also good.

Off the top of my head this one was pretty good:

It'll be chilly but drinking at the Union is a fun start to the day. It's right on the lake.

The Union (have a Spotted Cow and a brat) and a walk up State Street are must-do's and the bars around the stadium on Regent Street should be good before and after the game, despite the deplorable play of the team this year.

Correct. Others (although not as common) are FISHTAB's- "F***kin Illinois Shithead Towing A Boat" and "flatlander".
As outlined in some cases above alimony is a necessity in some cases.

Worst alimony story I have heard:

College buddy I moved to AZ with from WI meets a girl attending ASU. They eventually marry and have three children. He does very well in the insurance industry and they relocate to SoCal. He was constantly bragging to me that his wife doesn't have to work.

This is his version only and I can only go by what he tells me but after 16 years of marriage he suspects infidelity on her part and a PI confirms she was stepping out with the water polo coach at USC. He purchases a $18m beach house in Hermosa Beach and her and the kids stay in their $8m home in Palos Verdes. They also own a $3m home in Scottsdale. She hires the divorce attorney who represented Britney Spears in her first divorce and he hires another high-powered LA divorce attorney. His attorney suggests giving her the Palos Verdes home and cash in addition to $35K/monthly in combined alimony/child support. Her attorney says "dig deeper" and asks for the Palos Verdes home, $7m cash and $55K/monthly for 10 years. I never did find out the final payout and he passed at age 48 not long after the divorce was finalized. He stated one of his biggest regrets was not making her work even a part-time job after the kids were older and in school as they had a live-in nanny and a live-in chef and she had too much time on her hands. If even part of his story is true that was a staggering payout.

EDIT: Just looked up the Hermosa Beach beach house (pic below) and it's listed for sale at $13M. He bought it in 2010, I believe.

You post like a goddamn idiot.

Did anybody actually ask for this movie?

The Rock and Kerr have been friends for years and I was told The Rock thought it was a good story and he obviously has enough juice in Hollywood to get it made. I agree that it doesn't seem like it would be a compelling enough story and I used to train (not MMA) with Kerr years ago here in Scottsdale after his fighting career ended and we have casually stayed in touch.

Kerr obviously had an addiction issue but so did his wife back in the day and she generally was not a good person so I was curious to see how she was portrayed. To those who saw the movie was was her drug use addressed? I still see her around and was told she worked in a Safeway grocery store

I bit the bullet last year and got it. You are correct. I watch YouTube as much as I watch regular tv.

I've been a Premium subscriber for about three years and I watch it way more than I watch YouTube TV. I love it and they have a decent selection of movies for free with no ads. I watched "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" last night.

I actually think that's probably a popular opinion among many men, including me. She's similar to Julia Roberts in that women consider them "classic beauties" while men don't see the appeal.
