I personally don’t mind it but as the same time… it’s a little weird to artificially shift our clock to compensate for the sun vs the time we expect to be everywhere.

How do they handle it in Alaska when the sun is only up for a couple of hours or less in the winter?

How many people live there?

How many people with kids live there?

kids walking to school or waiting at a bus stop in the dark is a bad idea.

Do children even ride the bus anymore? There so many cars lines up at all the schools seems like no one does ride the bus.

This is the thread where all the people who want fake government time don’t understand why everyone else wants it to be bright in the morning and dark in the evening

Or we could standardize work and school schedules starting an hour earlier. Working from 7-3 instead of 8-4 gives the same amount of free daylight evening hours as permanent DST. The good thing is that Trump could easily do this for federal employees through an executive order. Once federal employees are on this schedule most states and then businesses would likely follow eventually.

You obviously dont mean the children who wait on the bus in the dark now, anyway.

What about them? Do they have superpowers that other children dont?

How in the world do people not know that kids all over this country are at the bus stop every day in the dark. This is not a new concept.

Exactly, someone needs to post sunset in winter during standard time. It’s awful.

But think of the children. Don’t you know little Easton will be waiting for the bus in the dark in Dec?

(My bus picked up around 6:30 in high school. It was dark.)

I can't stand going to work or having my kids waiting for the bus in the dark. Call me old fashioned, but this ain't natural.

Sun coming up at almost 9 is insane. Early morning sun is much better for you

This is a retarded take. The sun is the same regardless of what the clock says. So lucky for you, just because it says 9 instead of 8, it's still the same "morning" sun.

The west side of your timezone does it every December, buttercup.

Old fashioned isn't the word that comes to mind.

The word "evening" derives from the coming of sunset.
On the westernside of the timezones, the sun has already set during "evening" on standard time in December.

Throw in a topography like the north georgia mountains (or parts of tennessee) and it is even darker at 5pm. And we are on the west side of the timezone.

This legislation will die in the Senate.

As it should.

1) Put Louisville in the Central Time zone. Have you seen how the dividing line between CST & EST loops around Luuhville. Stupid !
2) Have schools ope an hour later

They probably should be anyways, regardless of all of this.

Where I am, the latest the sun will rise is still going to be pre-8am if this goes through. The gnashing of teeth around this is hilarious. Stick to one time and stop the changing during the year. I prefer DST as there isn't anything I do in the morning where having the hour of sunlight positioned then is of any benefit.
