LSU Holds Steady In CBS Sports' Updated SEC Power Rankings

CBS Sports released its updated SEC Power Rankings this week, with LSU holding steady at No. 3 following its bye week.

The Tigers (6-2) have won back-to-back games in convincing fashion, shutting out Mississippi State 31-0 before defeating Auburn 38-17 on the road.

Now, Lane Kiffin's squad faces a much tougher test as Alabama visits Tiger Stadium on Saturday for a pivotal SEC matchup.

CBS Sports highlighted LSU's recent improvement and questioned whether the Tigers can carry that momentum into Saturday's showdown with the Crimson Tide.

Here's what CBS Sports said about LSU:

3. LSU Tigers

In their last two games before the open date, the Tigers seemed to be hitting their stride with blowout wins over Mississippi State and Auburn. Was that the quality of the opponent, or was LSU finding another gear for real? We're about to find out on Saturday when the Tigers host Alabama in Death Valley. If Sam Leavitt can keep his recent run of form going, not only will LSU be in a great position to win, but he could force his way into the Heisman Trophy race with an important stretch coming up.
