This is a bad idea for schools. No way kids up North are going to be sitting in the freezing cold at dark waiting on a bus.

Half of the kids are doing it now, anyways.

There is a west half and east half of each time zone.

How do people not know this?

What's states like Arizona gonna do, they don't observe DST anyway. So they are going to be stuck 2 hours behind the rest of the country?

I'm just spitballing here, but probably going to do the same thing they do the half of the year the rest of the country is already on DST. Just a guess

In my neck of the woods, that’s called official shooting light,,,,30min before sunrise when you can make out the deer in the woods to decide if it’s a legal deer or not.

I have a feeling this will only last a year or two until cities up against the western edges of the time zones like Atlanta, Cleveland/Columbus, Louisville, Amarillo, Lubbock, Salt Lake, and all along the west coast will start screaming about that again.

I dont think you have a clue.

Georgia is one of 19 states who have already passed permanent daylight savings laws. We are just waiting on the federal government to grant us permission to take advantage of a federalist system.

And if the federal government fails to do what we want, we will work to move Georgia to the central timezone.

Right now, the federal government is fricking things up.
You either reject daylight savings time altogether or follow the federal schedule.
Why not permit states to reject standard time?
What the frick is the difference?

Who cares how dark it is when you leave for work. I care more about how much light is left when I get home.

Think of the children….i don’t have kids so I really don’t care, but I can image it makes a difference waiting at a bus stop for an 8 years on a cold morning

You obviously dont mean the children who wait on the bus in the dark now, anyway.

What about them? Do they have superpowers that other children dont?

No idea. I dont have kids, never took the bus, and don’t live where it’s cold.

That’s just what the people who don’t want this to happen says.

I’d rather it get darker quicker in the evenings. Bc I drink, live in the south, and like my porch. It’s still hot as frick a 8:30pm. And by 9:30pm, it feels much better.

Atlanta is on the western side of the eastern time zone.

You dont think we know what going to school in the dark is like?

We are already doing it on standard time in December.
And to the surprise of many people on this thread, we are surviving.

We will trade going to school in the dark for a longer period of time (because we aren't pussies) for an extra hour of sunlight for fall baseball. Or tennis. Or soccer. Or camping. Or fishing. Or cross country.

It is healthy to get children outdoors.
That is going to happen after school. Not before.

The school I worked at, first bus stop was 5:55, school opens at 7:15. That’s not happening with Day light saving time in the winter. If this passes, schools will be pushing their start times back

Would line up better with their circadian rhythm if they pushed it back

So, they are saying the latest winter sunrise in Crossville, TN. will be the same time as west TX? I don't think so.

I knew a guy who his phone would change times depending on if he was in the front yard or the back yard.

if he lives close to the line between time zones, it could easily happen.

I worked only a couple miles from the line between eastern and central for a few weeks. our phones would change back and forth several times during the day.

I currently live only about 40 miles from the line between Central and Mountain. Not often, but I've had my phone change at my house before.

This. Make it Standard time
