Tom Mars is not a bright legal mind to say the least

I hope after this post that we can focus on what is happening with the team. I have read nothing about what our team looks like lately. I will say one more thing about this though. I said earlier in the week that LSU’s president was the smartest guy in the room for abstaining. Well, that is exactly what he was. I would encourage everyone to read the Supreme Court case involving NCAA vs Alston. The vote was 9-0! Liberal and conservative justices voted 9-0! I think that it was Kavanaugh that likened the conferences to cartels. He wrote a scathing opinion about it. After reading that decision, I am of the opinion that the NCAA and the conferences have no chance in federal court.
That’s what makes this more insane. We know Kavanagh is just waiting to slam the hammer down and make an example out of a conference acting like a cartel.
Why didn’t the SEC notice that the legal terrain has not been exactly favorable to them before they decided conduct their legal strategy like a meth head.
Again, I don’t see how Sankey survives this. And how did a school like Vanderbilt sign on. They’re supposed to be our smart one

Going to be even funner if/when discovery shows there was coordination between the SEC and ABC/Disney as to why ESPN is persistently trying to bring this up all day during actual games played during Week 0.

Ironically, LSU may be the one school that protected itself from what could be coming since we obviously weren’t participating in a federally illegal attempt at conspiracy.
The SEC’s current legal position is having to explain to a judge as to why it shouldn’t be held in contempt. And that’s against the backdrop of the NCAA and its conferences in a historic losing streak in every court case on all levels.
Somehow nobody told these idiots that they’re not the first people to think they can come up with a cute plane to violate a clear court order. And spoiler alert: courts don’t love when it’s tried.
If discovery shows the SEC, NCAA, schools or conferences coordinated to boycott these players, this could become a massive antitrust case with treble damages, injunctions and people losing their jobs.
And for what? Best case, they stop a handful of guys caught in a one-year eligibility glitch from playing one more season. Worst case, they expose an antitrust conspiracy and create devastating precedent against themselves.
The risk/reward here is insane and mark my words the ADs will try to make Sankey the fall guy for the exact behavior they pressured him to do.
Turtles all the way down.

re: So what stops the playoff committee from leaving out teams with pro players?
Posted by Obi Wan Ryobi on 8/29/26 at 3:04 pm to Jack Daniel
Oh, just a slam dunk antitrust / illegal collusion lawsuit with multiple plaintiffs and massive legal liability that will set back the entire system in ways it’s hard to imagine. That’s all.
I don’t know what’s so hard to understand that there’s no cute way to get around an unambiguous legal order.

Not reading the details of this particular case so won’t comment on it, but this is my nightmare.
Every single person who’s done this thinks it couldn’t happen to them. Fact is all of us go on autopilot sometimes.
There’s a reason these events started going up once we made car seat to start facing backwards.

Playoff committee already threatened us no playoffs with these players. Which they can't do and will get sued but what they can/will do is if LSU is a bubble team put someone ahead of us.
I am really confused how none of these idiots don’t understand how close they are to blatantly violating serious anti-trust / collusion laws.

Skankey saw the writing on the wall. The payouts from the class action lawsuits were going to be ridiculous.
I’m shocked and alarmed he let it get this far. They were on a one way road to a guaranteed courtwhooping

I was not trying to say that they would impose retroactive penalties. To clarify, if they win the appeal, they MAY be able to impose penalties going forward. So, let’s say the SEC wins the appeal mid season, could they not then rule the players ineligible for the remainder of the season and impose fines if we don’t comply? Isn’t that what Dellinger reported: “This does not mean that penalties won’t eventually be enforced through other legal mechanisms, such as a suit in federal court, or if the SEC wins in trial.”
1) They won’t win because they’ve been wrong on the merits this whole time. Ole Miss is just being insane and Sankey won’t tell them to stfu
2) The part you’re quoting is just Sankey trying to save face.
He’s such an idiot for letting it get this far. The SEC is so flat out wrong on the merits that this has always been a waste of time. He’s getting some very bad advice.

1) Uh, yeah it probably does actually
2) You’re acting like LSU has no leverage here.
3) If the SEC wants to single out and treat LSU like chopped liver then we can go make the Big 12 relevant again. Or shite, I’m sure the B1G would take us. Obviously nobody wants any of that, so it’d be best if the crybaby teams would stand down.
But we ain’t at their mercy nor did we do anything wrong.

1) Family bathroom if available.
2) Men’s bathroom if not, but go in, clean the stall, and stand nearby.
You’ll notice that 99% of men going in/out will immediately recognize the situation and everyone understands that it’s that 1% you’re looking out for.
Do not leave her alone.
