and if you keep DST. many kids go to school in the dark during standard time. The morning light is important but it doesn't take as much as needed for overall health and vitamin d production
Which is why I said we should keep standard and not DST if we’re keeping one.
I think you’re way under selling the importance of the circadian rhythm for overall health.
There’s a good reason they rolled this back in the 70s when they tried the same thing. Part of it was due to increase fatalities of children being hit and killed at bus stops in the AM.

Or we could standardize work and school schedules starting an hour earlier.
Or an hour later and you wouldn't have to go to work/school in the dark. I don’t care if we go to permanent standard time or DST, I just want to stop changing the clock twice a year.

Which would prevent some of us from getting in a quick pre-work hunt.
But you should be able to have a post-work hunt now instead.

I think school hours should be rolled back an hour. I think grade school and middle school kids walking to school or waiting at a bus stop in the dark is a bad idea.
Not only that but school lets out over an hour before the average parent gets off work it should more align with the typical 8-5 workday

If you want to see daylight then wake your lazy arse up, and leave the clock where it belongs at standard time.
Eff that, I am up either way, but would rather see daylight AFTER work when I can actually enjoy it.
Beautiful mornings just make me wish I didnt have to go to work

Put me in the camp of just leave things as they are

Sunlight through a window is enough to maintain circadian rhythm.

Not at all, I just know it doesn't take that much morning light and enough is easily attained through a window.

"They" also shut down schools for a cold. it's not like kids also aren't hit by cars playing in the dark at 5:00 pm

Many businesses, particularly those using manual labor, start early to avoid late afternoon heat. Some schools do the same.

When I go hunting during standard time, there's kids waiting for the bus are in the dark.

From the long arse pick up and drop off lines I see at schools, I am under the impression that less than 20% of kids ride the school bus these days.
fricking this. I live in a rural area. Most kids aren't taking a bus. And if they do, they all gather up around a general staging area which has two or three parental units overseeing them.
We've been pandering to "the children" long enough. They can stand outside in the dark waiting for a bus. And I guarantee you educators will use this to further their four day work week and starting classes later in the day. They've been pushing that shite for years. This will only help their argument.

And if you work a global job with mtgs early morning to late evening, on multiple EU, India, Singapore, China and Australia time zones, whereby some Spring weeks the U.S. spring forward and others did not…
Ugh
Some of that solved!

why not just get rid of DST and then split the difference between the two times
Current winter sunrise sun sent in BR: 7:00am 5:30 PM
Keeping DST year round in BR: 8:00am 6:30 PM
split the difference: 7:30am 6;00pm

the country was still more or less domianted by the population in northeast and midwest, albeit fading, in the 70s
Coincidently that is the section of the country that hates winter savings time.
